Scientists have been publishing climate models since ~1970.
A good way to evaluate their skill is to compare what they expected to happen in the years after the model was published to observed climate changes.
It turns out most models were pretty spot-on:
Some long duration #SolarFlare activity over the Sun’s eastern limb, with flare loop growth and high-altitude downflows persisting for 36 hours! This source region will rotate to face us in the coming days. #spaceweather
NOAA have not updated the publicly available magnetic pole data [1] since 2020. The December 2023 State of the Geomagnetic Field report [2] does, however, contain some clues as to how things are progressing: "Since 2020, the north magnetic dip pole has moved at an average speed of 41 km/yr [~36.8° per century], and the south magnetic dip pole at 9 km/yr [~8.1° per century]. Neither underwent any noticeable change in direction. /// The South Atlantic Anomaly, where the geomagnetic field intensity is lowest, has continued to deepen (by about 25 nT at surface level) and move westward (its center moved by about 20 km at surface level) in the past year. /// In the SAA the intensity of the field is about one-third of that near the magnetic poles." By this account, the current geomagnetic excursion continues unabated.

A major eruption/CME earlier today (AR 13664), associated with an M8.8 flare and causing an S1 proton storm. Its spectrum was softer than the S2 storm from the 11 May CME (associated with an X5.8 flare). Only a weak coronal wave in this video may be related to a softer spectrum.
A shock wave arrived at ~08:55 UT on 12 May 2024 amid the decline of the big solar storm. This new arrival may signal a glancing blow of the CME launched around 07 UT on 10 May (associated with an X4.0 flare), suggestive of no more direct encounters (AR 13664 being too west).
