I'm a high school science teacher and I run my own mowing business on the side. I enjoy sports, the outdoors, and working on just about anything with a motor.
@StevensThia Its always nice having a supportive administration behind you, but unfortunately it doesn't add time. Our inclusion students all have a study skills period with the Special Ed teacher at the same time. This system works well, but it sounds like you can't fit that in. #satchatwc
@StevensThia@SusanBi23696508 At our school now, but special education teachers are stretched very thin, I do not envy them at all. I no longer have someone in the room with me which makes it harder on me, but makes the special education teachers jobs much harder too. #satchatwc
A4: I think I'm going to try and add a weekly reading time into my middle school science classes where they are allowed to bring something to read or I can provide something, but it has to be science. #LeadLAP
@stevensthia The special education teacher that was in my classroom would adapt the material that I was giving to a level that they could complete hoping to slowly bring them up to level. #satchatwc
A5: I don't really do anything with the students over summer. The only thing over summer is the AP Physics 1 assignment that I give my upcoming students which would force them to do some reading. #LeadLAP
@SusanBi23696508 I'm not sure yet, I've got a lot going on on my computer right now. second webinar of the morning plus twitter... I've had the same frustrations as you with the chats. #satchatwc
A3: I don't do anything to purposely make books readily available, but I keep a stack of science magazines that I try to keep updated for them to read if they are done with work early. #LeadLAP
a couple years ago I had a special education teacher in my room daily when I had those students in my science classes. She would listen to my presentations, help students with in class work and then she had them for a study skill period as well. #satchatwc@stevensthia
A2: To be honest this is something I need to work on. There really isn't any visual evidence that reading needs to be important in my classroom. #leadlap
@SusanBi23696508 I agree. A1: I wish I had time to read a book right now. During the school year I try and discuss with students what they're reading outside of school. #leadlap
@stevensThia I am a middle school science teacher and I have a lot of special education students in my room daily. Usually by myself. What are you looking for exactly? #satchatwc
A6. One of my passions include making my AP Class as successful as can be. I just got my results back and I have new motivation for new year. #whatisschool
