Why hire an athlete?
Many people aren’t great at working with others. Athletes work as a team every day.
Rules and expectations are tough to follow for some. Athletes create team standards and hold themselves and their teammates accountable.
Many people struggle to present, perform, and produce in front of others. Athletes perform in front of hundreds every game.
Many people today don’t want to show up, work, and produce. Athletes not only understand the required work but they know they gain their advantage by doing extra work on their own.
Finding life balance and having healthy habits is difficult for many people. Athletes consistently achieve excellence on the court/field, in the classroom, in the community and in their relationships. Athletes eat with a purpose, value rest/sleep, and take care of themselves.
Many people struggle to respond to authority. Athletes embrace working with those who demand excellence and push them to their limits.
Many people struggle to show up on time for one thing each day. Athletes show up on time for many things every day.
Athletes aren’t built the same as others. They are independent but team-oriented. They are hard-working but balanced. They have killer-instinct but are loving. They value individual performance but within the concept of team success.
Hire athletes and watch your company take off! 🚀
Hockey Canada completed a study which concluded that 1 quality run practice with many puck touches, game like, decision making, challenging and fun will equal up to eleven "regular" full ice games. Keep that study in mind when designing your practice to maximize development.

Might be one of the best things I ever read on youth athletic development...this is coming from an Olympic lifting coach Don McCauley.
"I'm not going to spend a lot of time in this book writing about the developmental holes I believe most U.S. athletes have because of improper preparation for high level sports performance most have received. Let me state this. If you are a pre-teen or teenage athlete who competes in four or five sports per year or unending competitive seasons, you are in an abusive situation, not athletics. If you haven't taken or been given time to run through the woods or streets or alleys with your friends, jump up on rocks, jump rope, wrestle anyone that came by, skate backwards, play hop Scotch, bale hay or chop wood, climb trees, jump off a swing for height and distance, play dodge ball, climb over a fence, play Sandlot football and do back flips and cartwheels for fun, you haven't been properly prepared for high competition levels in true power sports." GET THE RIGHT GUYS ON THE BUS!
"Mediocre people don’t like high achievers and high achievers don’t like mediocre people ... Get the right guys on the bus, get them in the right seats, and get the wrong guys off the bus."

Get unfocused
Are selfish/disrespectful
Blame others
Lose morale
Get lazy
Take shortcuts
Make bad choices
Leave locker room messy
Need a buffer between another player & coach
Stir up conflict/drama
Continue talking while coach is talking

It’s easy to work hard when coaches, parents & teammates are watching because you want others to see your hustle, dedication & accomplishments, but what do you do when there’s no attention? Anybody can work for an audience. It’s what you do when no one’s watching that matters!

Your body & mind can handle so much more than you realize. Everything you endure & fight through makes you tougher. Resiliency develops by meeting adversity head on & overcoming it. Mental strength grows each time you face life’s challenges. Don’t ever run from it. Learn from it!
BAD players - don't show up
AVERAGE players - show up & go through the motions
GOOD players - show up & work hard
GREAT players - show up, work hard & do more on their own
