Fellow citizens & compatriots—I am besieged, by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa Anna—I have sustained a continual Bombardment & cannonade for 24 hours & have not lost a man. At a Young Catholic Professionals event on Friday I spoke with a young conservative that missed out on voting in 24 because he left it up to Election Day.

His flight home got cancelled. Said he’s exclusively voting early for the rest of his life.

In 2020 we were loading all our cattle to take to the sale.

No hay. No grazing. Dust to dust. So we had to sell.

A big angus bull was getting wild, so we separated him in his own pen. He started ramming a corner post as hard as he could.

Somebody said, better get him out, he’s gonna hurt himself.

It was too late. He broke his neck. Laid there breathing a little longer. I took my knife and cut his carotid to bleed him, so we could save the meat.

I wrote the song “Afford to Kill” partially based on that day, it was the pandemic and there were a whole lot of people who were cowering and making incredibly poor decisions, including the majority of the leadership of our country.

I want my children to be gentle and kind, but I hope when the time comes for hard things to be done, that they are ready to do them, and not give in.

I want to teach them the old ways. Our forefathers made tough decisions over and over to build this nation, and I’ll be danged if I let it be destroyed by a bunch of cowards.

Remember how our leaders acted during 2020. They are all running for office again, not to get too political, but many in this election. Some fought back against tyranny, some cowered.

You can guess my vote based on who was willing to fight.
