@Shoppergurl1 @KarenMorrisWR @SD36Facilities @Surrey_Schools@jordantinney Seriously? School continues, class material is taught and our children have to miss it because the district didn’t make the right call? Give me a break.
@KarenMorrisWR @SD36Facilities @Surrey_Schools@jordantinney Completely agree. Technically, it’s our decision to let our children stay at home but they do face consequences as they end up missing class material. It isn’t so simple to just let children stay home. A few snow days here and there will not hurt and rather prevent accidents.
@saanvi32812308 @aweebitdaft @SD36Facilities @Surrey_Schools With rain expected in the forecast throughout Thursday afternoon and Friday, they should let nature do the job of washing out the city and get back to the usual Monday morning
@SD36Facilities @Surrey_Schools Respect for everyone working BUT PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A SNOW DAY DECISION BASED ON THE CONDITIONS AT 4:00AM. NOT MANY PEOPLE DRIVING AT THAT HOUR. MAJORITY OF THE TRAFFIC WILL COME ABOUT WITH SCHOOL TIMES. WITH THESE CONDITIONS, MORE CARS = MORE ACCIDENTS.
@jordantinney Translink just tweeted that there will be many bus and sky train cancellations tomorrow due to the extreme conditions overnight. All this wind is going to be treacherous for morning drives. Please consider every single student, parent, and staff member making commutes.
@jordantinney Jordan, is this really the best way to respond to our concerns? This was sent to me from another mom! I believe your job is to respond to questions of parents yet you think you can just brush aside our questions. This is just disrespectful. Please reconsider when lazily blocking.
@Surrey_Schools Working hard! However, I must say that people are affected in the inner lanes, neighborhoods and transit (which will be cancelled most likely) when deciding on a snow day, please consider the factors actually impacting kids, parents, and staff rather than a clean school lot.
@jordantinney@CindyDalglish@Surrey_Schools@gpthind@BobHolmesSD36@mcnally_laurae@GTymoschuk it’s going to be bad in the morning a.k.a when kids, parents, and staff are trying to get to school. If you think it’s only going to get worse in the afternoon, please recheck the weather radar. Regardless, people are trying to commute to and fro school morning and evening.
Another reminder of bots and fakers out there in the twitterverse. The blue checkmark on my account signifies a verified account and, as always, turn to your trusted media sources such as @cbcradio@CKNW@Surrey_Schools website also key. #sd36learn#surreybc
@Shoppergurl1 @bookclubboss @jordantinney@cbcradio@CKNW@Surrey_Schools Yeah, technically it is our choice to send kids, but when students miss classes, they miss so much (especially high school students) best to cancel for the district so that we’re all safe and don’t miss much.
@jordantinney@cbcradio@CKNW@Surrey_Schools Jordan, at the end of the day, parents get to make the decision of whether or not it is safe to send their children to school. But, students end up missing so much because of open school. This is especially difficult for the kids travelling from far and taking transit to reach.
@Surrey_Schools@jordantinney please cancel school for tomorrow, weather is insane. Cars are skidding everywhere already and it’s just about to get worse throughout the night on those roads. Please make the sensible decision for the safety of all teachers, parents, and students.
