Joe Bello, now the #Yankees' major league physical therapist/rehab coordinator, first came on Gerrit Cole's radar after Darren O'Day suffered a serious hamstring injury in 2021. O'Day initially planned on retiring, but pitched another season after rehabbing with Bello, then a rookie PT.

“[O'Day] just said, ‘I’ve worked with a lot of physical therapists. I’ve [hurt] this hamstring three times now, and this is the best rehab that I’ve ever had executed,'” Cole recalled.

Over the last few years, Bello has been a sounding board, travel buddy & throwing partner for Cole. He'll be watching closely tonight.
