37. the deferential silence, or the appearance of people who have been summoned to receive instructions.
38. The tragedy is that some journalists may be helping to weaken the very democratic institutions that guarantee their freedom to practise journalism.
39. History is replete with people who assisted the destruction of institutions, believing themselves too important to suffer the consequences.
40. They discovered, rather late, that when the house collapses, even those who helped remove its pillars are buried beneath the rubble.
41. Nigeria's democracy needs courageous journalists, not political courtiers or simbis dressed as interviewers.
42. It needs independent minds, not microphones for hire.
43. It needs men and women who understand that the dignity of journalism does not come from proximity to powerful people, but from the courage to question them.
44. For when the press becomes the servant of power, the people become its prisoners.
45. And if Nigerian journalism continues down this road, future generations may discover that democracy was not destroyed by soldiers marching through the streets.
46. It was destroyed in television studios, under bright lights, before expensive cameras, while the very people paid to ask questions sat silently and watched.

So, Minister David Umahi boldly stood before Nigerians and told them that the long-talked-about coastal highway will no longer follow the original route as planned?
So, Umahi is telling Nigerians that after Lagos and Ogun States, from the end of Ondo State, there will be an inland detour through Edo State to connect to the existing East-West Road rather than cutting a new coastal path through the terrain?
Why?
According to Umahi, the shift is an engineering decision driven by environmental challenges, including deep peat soil, climate change, rising sea levels, and severe flood risks along certain coastal and low-lying corridors.
So, Umahi didn't know all of these before he advised President Tinubu to embark on such a project at a heavy cost, ably sponsored by taxpayers' money?
When most of us said that the government should have channelled the money into rehabilitating and strengthening all the existing federal roads in Nigeria, most of you thought we didn't want the progress of the Tinubu administration.
Now, just imagine what is happening after the project must have destroyed homes and people's investments.
A government of trial and error.
I am Ekene Aninze, Esq.
David Umahi owes this lady an apology.
Remember when she asked him questions about the Costal road EIA report project and Umahi tired to make her sound silly and wave off the question.
*Coastal Road: Dave Umahi is Living in Bondage*
Dr Ugo Egbujo.
Someday a tribunal will sit on the coastal road project
Nothing can be hidden under the sun
A president awarded a multi trillon naira project to his business partner
The project had barely started
When they suddenly discovered there were telecom lines on the route
A multi trillion naira project
No surveys
No tender. No bidding . No costing
And the minister wouldnt answer any questions
The minister had said the contractor would source all the money
Then he changed and said the country would contribute 15-30%
He wasnt even sure of the exact percentage contribution
Then suddenly the FG threw over a trillion into the project
When a yound lady dared to ask if there was an environmental impact assessment
Umahi mocked her
Two weeks later Umahi said they didnt know there were telecom lines on their path
Rufai Oseni asked what the cost per kilometer was
Umahi dismissed the legitimate question as illiterate
A few days later Unahi announced that he scope of the project had been reduced
It was no longer a total of 10 lanes .
It would now be six lanes. Just like that
The entire thing was arbitrary , haphazard, shifty
When Obi said the road was a wrong priority for a country whose existing roads were crumbling
Saying the road would require 30 years for completion
Tinubu and his men scoffed at him
When Amaechi said he would stop the road and fix the East West road first
They mocked him
Now Umahi has childishly confessed that the day Tinubu approved the re routing of the road to the East West road was the best day of his life
Guy must have be living a miserable life
A few days ago he had told us that he chose the project and chose the contractor without any prompting from Tinubu
He wanted to fool us into believing that Tinubu didnt award the contrat to his business partner
If the best day of his life is now the day Tinubu agreed to a partial discontinuation of the coastal road
Then Umahi has been living in bondage all the while
But the joke is on the clown
Because
Almost the entire country knew that Tinubu was only interested in the lagos Ogun corridor
And he wasn't going to complete no coastal road 🤣😢
THE Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, says the Federal Government has no regret over decisions taken on the Ondo section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
Umahi stated this in Abuja on Wednesday while giving an update on the Federal Government’s legacy road projects, particularly the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
He said the decisions concerning the Ondo section were based on sound engineering considerations and aimed at ensuring the successful delivery of the project.
The minister said the Ondo section had attracted petitions alleging diversion of the project, but maintained that the ministry’s decision to realign the route was necessary because of the difficult terrain.
According to him, the ministry carefully assessed the terrain before deciding to alter the alignment of the road in order to overcome significant construction challenges.
“We have no regret for decisions taken at Ondo. For us, it is their right to write a petition; it is my right to take the right decision.
“When people subject me to public scrutiny by asking me what is the cost per kilometre, you want me to pass through a terrain that has over 100 metres of pits deep with no defined sharp sand to 300 metres.
“Yet you expect the cost of one kilometre of route passing through a normal terrain to be the same cost with that?” he asked.
He said the ministry had therefore redesigned the route to avoid deep pits and other difficult terrain, adding that filling work in the affected area was almost completed.
Umahi explained that the construction process involved removing pits of more than 10 metres deep and filling them with sharp sand before the actual road construction could proceed.
He said the engineering intervention was necessary to provide a stable foundation for the highway and ensure the durability of the road infrastructure.
The minister described the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as President Bola Tinubu’s first legacy project, saying it runs from Victoria Island in Lagos through Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River.
Tinubu’s Greatest Achievement is exposing the Idiots we mistook for Intellectuals.
Degrees in their hands, propaganda in their heads, and zero independent thought.
"Joash Amupitan, the APC member heading INEC, we will announce our PRIVATELY COLLATED RESULTS for the 2027 election…..
If you like do conference from now till tomorrow….."

"Whenever I remember that Monday Okoebholo won Asue Ighodalo and Olumide Akpata to become the Governor of Edo State, I kneel down and weep.
Asue Ighodalo and Olumide Akpata are two of the top 20 lawyers in Nigeria, if not top ten.
Distinguished themselves in academics, legal practice and business.
Asue co-founded Banwo and Ighodalo while Olumide helped build Templars with his cousin Oghogho Akpata.
For context,
Banwo and Ighodalo handled Dangote Refinery’s IPO and also the private placement. Deals worth billions of dollars.
Templars once won a $2.5 Billion case.
These law firms print tens of millions of dollars annually in earnings from just professional fees.
It would take a thousand Mondays to make one Olumide/Asue.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Any day could have become the Governor of Edo State. Any day but Monday. 😑
My condolences to the people of Edo." Desire Meziem
They thought 30 governors were the solution to securing a second term.
He probably would have preferred to give the money to the Southern governors and not bother with the Northern governors.
Because in the South, we are devourers 😭🥹. We know how to devour our brothers, watch our people suffer, and still defend those making life unbearable for us.
But the North speaks a different kind of political language.
His ministers and senators are being chased like thieves whenever they gather among the people. The hardship has become so unbearable that political loyalty and party slogans are struggling to compete with empty stomachs.
Maybe they have finally told Daddy that a mini bag of rice is no longer enough.
So, what does Daddy do? He adds a litre of petrol to the package! 👏
Remember, the subsidy was gone forever. Gone! Buried! Never to return!
But here we are, with a 30-day petrol discount at NNPC stations. Not a subsidy, o! A discount!
But wait, what happened to the CNG cars that were supposed to arrive on October 1 to make transportation cheaper? Another poorly crafted promise from short-sighted leaders. I guess Daddy doesn’t even know that the contractor may have sold him another dream.
Daddy, what exactly does Daddy know? Macron’s lullaby can no longer let our Daddy hear the sounds.
After all, what is the point of worrying about the cries when there are international friendships to nurture abroad?
And talking about friendship, imagine befriending a president rejected by several of his own former colonies, and now he is coming to Nigeria for a state visit. 🥲
What exactly are you hoping to share with him? His political troubles? His unpopularity?
Will he be coming to Nigeria to beg or perhaps to borrow money to pay teachers’ salaries in France? And according to the announced agenda, they will be discussing trade and investment, mining, and energy.
So, maybe an extra gold mine as a friendship bonus. Oops! 😤 Nigeria’s mineral resources have now become top government secrets!
This is how you know when a country’s leadership is heading for the rocks: the people are asking for solutions, but their president is busy collecting international, parasitic friendships.
Friendship with a country that offers little tangible value in return, yet somehow commands the prestige of a relationship simply because it is foreign.
This is possible because some of the people leading Nigeria appear so foreign-struck that anything from abroad excites them.
So, while a mini bag of rice now needs a litre of petrol to make its way into the household budget, Tinubu is still trying to figure out what else to add to the package.
And now, they tell us it is a discount, not a subsidy.
Please, somebody help us define the word subsidy and explain how it differs in the context of this arrangement.
🤣 The moment Nigeria became friends with Macron, it showed that only the crumbs were left of our leadership, with no other world leader wanting to come close.
BOLA TINUBU AND WITCH CRAFT ECONOMICS
1. Bola Tinubu took away the subsidy and the money that Nigerians were benefiting from, gave to Governors.
2. We cried, but instead of alleviating our suffering, he told Nigerians that Governors now had more money and we should chase our Governors to reduce our suffering.
3. Nigerians have been suffering since the very first day Tinubu came into office - “Subsidy is gone.”
4. Petrol was about ₦185/litre when Tinubu came into office. It went above ₦1,500/litre in many parts of the country. Food prices exploded. Transport costs increased. Businesses struggled. The cost of living became unbearable.
5. Now, barely 100 days to the 2027 elections, after Nigerians have blacklisted this government, they suddenly want Nigerians to see cheaper fuel. Petrol discounts. A proposed ₦1,350 price ceiling. Suddenly, relief is possible.
6. This is witchcraft economics and leadership.
7. If you fall for this trap, you will cry blood until 2031. Nigerians must not allow temporary election-year relief to erase four years of economic hardship.
8. Voting Bola Tinubu out in 2027 is a matter of national emergency.
9. Nigerians must remember the pain. Nigerians must remember the failed promises. And Nigerians must vote accordingly.
