@shapeformer@CharlieHust77@asha_shar@klobrille It's very unpopular. It's getting outsold in every country and is only slightly relevant in the US/UK.
PC doesn't count. If they continue releasing on PC, they continue admitting there's no reason to own an Xbox.
So the only way to actually do exclusives is make them exclusive.
@shapeformer@CharlieHust77@asha_shar@klobrille They did good because Sony stumbled, mostly. They will never get back to the 360 days on hardware. Digital ecosystems too entrenched, Xbox too unpopular globally. They can't afford to let their studios die on Xbox only either. Too costly, and that experiment failed already.
@AmericanTimdog@longislandviper@_Tom_Henderson_ Going exclusive costs way too much money. They would need to commit for longer than a generation, and all of their studios have large operating costs.
They would bleed 100+ billion dollars pursuing exclusivity, Microsoft would rather spend on AI. Excusivity is a pipe dream.
@Mrplascencia92@asha_shar@vicious696@klobrille If it's on PC, it's on Steam, it's not benefiting Xbox. And it's not an Xbox exclusive. Period. Why allow it on PC but not PS5 or Switch? Doesn't make any sense.
Play anywhere is a fringe thing that most developers will not accept. Why would they? They want double dippers.
@shapeformer@CharlieHust77@asha_shar@klobrille Exclusives that Microsoft continued to foster well into the Xbox One and Xbox Series generation.
The Xbox 360 did a lot of things right with online and pricing where Sony failed with the PS3. They still couldn't beat Sony despite their problems.
@44F0rc3@CharlieHust77@asha_shar@klobrille You should go ask Amy Hood for that data. 2023 wasn't a good year. You fanboys need to stop pretending Microsoft has no limits on how much they're willing to lose to fight a silly console war.
@klobrille@DMC_Ryan@asha_shar This industry was better before Microsoft started buying the biggest third party publishers. They bought the position they are in and need to own it - as a third party publisher. There's no other option. Exclusives won't move the needle at all for Xbox, just more layoffs.
@CharlieHust77@asha_shar@klobrille We have 20+ years of data that show Xbox exclusives didn't bring people to their platform. They even bought Bethesda and released a huge exclusive and Xbox continued to die. The brand isn't coming back with exclusives.
@txdanny@asha_shar@klobrille The problem is that even if they made their games exclusive it wouldn't do anything, just like it didn't the last 20+ years.
Their only strategy is to embrace being a third party publisher. PS gets to "keep" their exclusives because they aren't in the position Microsoft is in.
@Mrplascencia92@asha_shar@vicious696@klobrille If there's a PC, there's no need for Xbox either. Why keep it on PC?
For exclusives to actually work they need to be actual exclusives. Think of that? The price for exclusives is too high and wouldn't work anyway.
@Mrplascencia92@asha_shar@vicious696@klobrille Carlos, releasing on PC does nothing to help Xbox in your framework. Microsoft would need to pull it completely and only release on Xbox instead.
Microsoft doesn't have a choice in this matter. Their only means of survival is releasing on PS5 and PC
@asha_shar@klobrille You really need to stop engaging and listening to the vocal minority .001% of fans and start listening to the silent majority 99.999% of fans where your actual consumers are instead. This parasocial stuff needs to stop.
@PaulTassi It'd be more cosmic if the worst writer on the internet that seemingly has a career dooming a single studio would end up stop posting instead
@JamiesAct This guy is truly delusional as they come.
"If Sony can make console exclusives, So can Xbox...but Xbox will also release on PC"
What the heck is he even talking about lmao
@oliver_drk Microsoft made Halo exclusive to Xbox and PC for generations and suddenly now, this time, it will finally work and make people buy an Xbox again.
Delusional.
@Nick101Gaming@DialgaMarine92@asha_shar Microsoft tried full exclusives for 25 years and it didn't help.
Microsoft shouldn't care about a 30% decline in hardware, they never made money on hardware.
They can make money on software, but can't be exclusive.
@PaulTassi Your takes are of course wildly out of touch. Microsoft tried for years to have full exclusives. That didn't work. So suddenly we should believe that gatekeeping single player is the move. Didn't work. Playstation and MS are not in the same position with regards to exclusives.
@PigeonGoGaming@JezCorden@ManaByte Yeah, exclusivity of all Gears 1-5 games or whatever didn't do the trick, but Gears E-day absolutely will! Wild how out of touch you guys are.
@Colteastwood Exclusivity works for successful platforms like Playstation, Steam, and Nintendo.
It doesn't work for unsuccessful platforms like Xbox.
What works for Sony does not work for Microsoft. Sony generates 99% of software revenue on their console. Microsoft, likely 10%
