“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Psalms 27:13-14 NIV https://t.co/EaQQHSiPIo
Lord, open unto me.
Open unto me---light for my darkness.
Open unto me---courage for my fear.
Open unto me---hope for my despair.
Open unto me---peace for my turmoil.
Open unto me---joy for my sorrow.
Open unto me---strength for my weakness.
Open unto me---wisdom for my confusion.
Open unto me---forgiveness for my sins.,
Open unto me---love for my hates.
Open unto me---thy Self for my self.
Lord, Lord, open unto me. Amen.
Howard Thurman, Meditations from the Heart (1953).
The Defender of the weak becomes weak and defenseless.
The One who covers all becomes naked and exposed.
The One who cares for all becomes helpless and needing care.
The One who holds it all together, needs to be held tightly.
God's ways are not our ways.

It was Christianity, not the Democratic or Republican Party, that shaped Western civilization. It was the teaching of Jesus, not the planks of our current political platforms, that laid the foundation for our modern sense of justice, fairness, and dignity. Throughout our very short history as a nation, both of our current parties have gotten it wrong. During our short history as a nation, multiple parties turned out the lights because their party was over. During our short history, political leaders from both parties have fallen short morally and fallen short in their leadership. So why would followers of the King who did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life for the men and women in the party you dislike, prioritize allegiance to and allow ourselves to be divided by the promises of lesser kings? Why would we allow a political view to divide us from a living, breathing you? A you for whom Christ died? For Jesus followers, a you is always more important than a political view.
