It was such a monstrous incident that shook the collective conscience of the Nation, drew global condemnation, and remains under intense #criminal investigation. This is the direct, brutal cost of #FakeNews. Words have Bodies attached to them, and when highly placed Academics validate rumors, they pave the way for real-world savagery!‼️

What makes the dissemination of these lies even more repulsive is how they actively erase documented acts of humanity that occurred amid the horror. It is a verified, historical fact that during the terrifying early days of the #ManipurViolence, #Kuki Women in #Churachandpur bravely stood as a human shield to protect #Meitei Civilians from an angry, vengeful mob in Lamka. Official records and ground realities confirm that there were absolutely no reports of #Meitei Women being r@ped or killed in #Churachandpur during that period. To propagate narratives that invert these truths is a malicious attempt to rewrite history and erase the profound courage of Women who risked their lives for #peace!‼️

At this juncture, we must draw a hard, uncompromising line in the sand. In a shocking display of absolute recklessness, a nefarious #DelhiUniversity Professor 𝐋𝐔𝐊𝐑𝐀𝐌 𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐎𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐁𝐀 𝐌𝐄𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐈 has single-handedly dragged the reputation of one of India’s premier Academic Institutions into the mud, establishing himself as a symbol of pure professional failure. On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, the dangerous underbelly of Academic irresponsibility was laid bare when 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐔𝐊𝐑𝐀𝐌 𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐎𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐁𝐀 𝐌𝐄𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐈 allegedly weaponized his digital platform to circulate a highly provocative, completely unverified, and deeply misleading Video footage. With a total disregard for the consequences of his actions, he presented this footage as a depiction of recent #violence in the war-torn State of #Manipur. To do this during an ongoing, hyper-sensitive ethnic conflict is not just a lapse in judgment; it is an act of profound social arson.

The fallout was immediate, forcing the #ManipurPolice to step in and issue an urgent, public clarification to put out the fires of panic 𝐋𝐔𝐊𝐑𝐀𝐌 𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐎𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐁𝐀 𝐌𝐄𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐈 helped ignite. Law enforcement Authorities confirmed in no uncertain terms that the circulated Video has absolutely nothing to do with #Manipur. Furthermore, the #ManipurPolice were forced to issue a stern, unambiguous ⚠️𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆⚠️ to the public, begging Citizens to stop sharing unverified, inflammatory content that serves no purpose other than to manufacture panic, breed visceral #hatred, and deliberately tear the fragile social fabric between Communities apart.

When a person ascends to the prestigious rank of a #UniversityProfessor, they are not just handed a Paycheck; they are handed a profound societal responsibility. They are trained to research, to cross-examine, and to venerate facts above emotion. New Delhi l 15 June 2026 : We strongly condemn the sharing of an unverified and misleading video allegedly by Delhi University professor Lukram Ingochouba Meitei. The video was circulated claiming to be related to recent incidents in Manipur.

Manipur Police has clarified that the circulated video is not related to Manipur and warned the public against sharing unverified and provocative content that can create panic, hatred, and further tension between communities.

A person holding an academic position has a responsibility to verify facts before sharing sensitive content, especially during an ongoing ethnic conflict. Spreading unverified material can fuel misinformation and deepen divisions.

This is not the first time that false narratives and unverified claims have been alleged to be circulated during the Manipur crisis. We recall the incident where Edison Moirangthem was accused of spreading claims about Meitei women being publicly raped in Churachandpur.

Following such claims, violence escalated, and on 4 May 2023, Kuki women were paraded naked in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, an incident that drew nationwide condemnation and is under investigation.

We also reiterate that Kuki women in Churachandpur protected Meitei civilians from an angry mob in Lamka during the early days of the violence, and there were no reports of Meitei women being raped or killed in Churachandpur.

False narratives from any side must be rejected. Truth, accountability, and justice are necessary to prevent further suffering and to restore peace in Manipur.
