One thing worth sharing about Mainstreet and how we do acquisitions that founders should know...
We understand startups are HARD. Sounds obvious but it's not so obvious how to handle being stuck especially in 2026.
Founders spend years of their lives, working longer hours, for less pay, and more often than not walk away with nothing. Given the rollercoaster of the last 5-6 years it's understandable why so many founders are tired. Speaking from my own personal experience from time to time going on year 14 now. AKA: Yoda in founder years 😂.
It's actually why we structure deals the way we do at Mainstreet.
Typically when your company gets acquired you stay on at the acquirer for 2 to 4 years to help transition. For us it is as short as 0 days to ~3 months. Take a break, reset, go build the next AI Unicorn. Note: that's not to say you can't stay just that we prefer everyone to be free to leave not golden handcuffed to us.
We also typically structure our offers so that the pref stack liquidation triggers move to the next liquidity event. Which saves founders, angel investors and employees from their equity stakes being wiped to $0. Giving time for us to compound together and hopefully clear the pref stack if and when we have a litquidity event.
So if you're burned out, tired, want to sail around the world or just simply want to go build the next thing DM me or email us at corpdev at Mainstreet dot com
