@ankurnagpal +1. Freelancers! You are both management and labor in your business. And if management isn't offering you a tax advantaged retirement plan (solo or SEP IRA), they're cheating you out of about 15% compensation compared to other employers. F that guy.
@PRisUs I feel like we need a rubric for what pricing models lend themselves well to what kinds of work.
My instinct is day rates make sense for face-to-face work. They are common in the #training and L&D world.
Also in the kind of consulting that includes an on-site "discovery" phase.
@PRisUs @robertwmcguire of @nation1099 here. My regular work is content marketing services for edtech and highered. Nation1099 is a side project to publish career and business advice for full-time freelance professionals.

Hey #freelance and 1099 colleagues- Who knows more about #WFH life than us? Let’s help out our W2 colleagues!!
Post your best work from home tip here.
Videos and pix would be awesome!
Re: #remotework
"I knew all along" and "We've been doing this all along" aren't helpful contributions to the discussion.
Condescension toward people doing new things doesn't make you cool.
Get off your high horse.
Thx everyone. Before we go I wanted to let you know we have a VERY comprehensive guide on this topic at Nation1099. It's for our paying members, but I have a coupon for you:

@PRisUs I can't think of any.
A couple times when my wife has come home and I told her I voluntarily lightened my client load (and income) by X% I had second thoughts for a moment. But #freelancers usually have supportive families.
#freelancechat
@inkandcopy@P_Hendrickson@PRisUs Right. If it's just low pay for you in particular in this stage of your career, help them transition to a colleague.
But if you wouldn't wish them on any other freelancer, leave out the helpful transition part of the breakup.

@sharanyamanola@PRisUs With nut cases, I suggest putting them in the position of firing you. Just turn in work you can be proud of but that they don't value. Ignore their direction until they give up on you.
#freelancechat
@PRisUs The ideal way is your contract has terms for ending a project and you just invoke those terms.
You might have to gut it out for 30 days or whatever.
#freelancechat
@PRisUs Conversely, if your beef is with the inane processes of the company, your lead contact will work at other companies in the future and you want them remembering you as professional.
