Today is #BlackWomensEqualPay Day, when Black women’s pay catches up to what white, non-Hispanic men were paid in 2018. That means Black women must work 𝟐𝟎 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 to be paid what white men are paid in 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟐. It’s way past time to fix this gap.
Calling all girls and TGNC youth of color!

“Supporting low-income caregiving workers—whether they’re caring as their job, for their families, or both—lifts up the people they care for, their communities, and the economy at large.” via @saritasgupta

Last night on @CBSNews our Manager of Organizing and Innovation Brittany Brathwaite (@urbintelligence) and GGE youth organizer Yazmin Abdullah discussed our #SchoolGirlsDeserve campaign, #TitleIX protections, and the critical work of Title IX coordinators https://t.co/EmT7k2imJc
Happy #Juneteenth! While we continue the work to get fully free, we're celebrating this historic day and debuting #RevolutionaryReads, a curated list of the books beloved by GGE staff. This month's theme is, of course, Black Liberation. Enjoy, loves! https://t.co/HylqYhtNq3
We know from our #StatusofWomenandGirls report: many working mothers in MN are the primary breadwinner in the family, esp women of color & American Indian women. So when we invest in women and girls & demand #MomsEqualPay, we invest in families & communities.
Poverty rates are high for MN's female-headed families, esp for Latina, African Immigrant, & American Indian families. With affordable childcare out of reach, moms also shoulder the disproportionate burden of unpaid caregiving to both elders and children. #MomsEqualPay
Girls, particularly girls of color, are disproportionately likely to cross over from the child welfare system to the juvenile justice system. #NationalFosterCareMonth#GirlsInJJ
Thrilled to host my beloved colleagues for @NationalYWI & @GGENYC strategy meeting! We are unstoppable together. By centering & funding the solutions of young women of color+, we all win.
Culture change & systems change is what @NationalYWI is working towards. And addressing the adultification bias that Black girls face is an immense part of that. This research is so important.
Help me raise awareness of how Black girls are treated in this country. This amazing and scary study has been released today from the folks @GtownLawPovCntr. Listen to Black girls! #EndAdultificationBias
When I was helping to lead my school walk out:
Principal: "Naomi is being very aggressive"
Mom: "She just asked you to re-instate the state required recess that you took from her and the other kids working on the walkout"

NEW report by @GtownLawPovCntr@GeorgetownLaw showcases the voices of Black women and girls discussing adultification bias. Read the report and share your own story at https://t.co/Usbhv8KxeX #LetBlackGirlsBeGirls
Thanks @Jeree_Thomas for uplifting the connection between adultification bias and the justice system. Viewing Black kids as older than their age has been proven to translate to holding them more criminally liable. @GeorgetownLaw#LetBlackGirlsBeGirls https://t.co/kz3E8VwxqS
