Great #data #sovereignty READ! Thanks @samjscience @Nature featuring @NativeBio and cofounders @kstsosie @kfox @science_punx “How rapidly we can sequence.. create data... commodify — I don’t think that the policy has caught up,” says Fox.

Just reminding everyone how long we have been around, & how much we are fighting the good fight so that Tribal and the global indigenous can continue on for the next 7 generations. We are part of a network of extremely influential Native voices. https://t.co/WxupWulchV

We wholeheartedly congratulate and give our support to Dr. Lydia Johnson this monumental piece of work. Indigenous data sovereignty is a real thing! I hope it’s not too late for tribal nations to protect themselves https://t.co/awUJa7qVSV

This is fantastic. The Assembly of First Nations, the First Nations Information Governance Centre and the Ontario Chiefs have been progressively and rapidly moving forward on these Genomic, DNA, Data and Economic issues. Great to see! https://t.co/8AaJy3dk09

7/n Including our local landscape. The title of this piece is eerily related. NativeBio has native partners, globally. The idea of tourism & data is relevant because the Northern Plains is, oddly, a biomedical tourism target for researchers. See @ 23 mins. https://t.co/HvWNHaLwaU

1/n NativeBio has been in the news, on the internet, in the Ivory Tower of Academia and in the Halls of Red Tape in DC. Here's a small sampling of our PODCAST footprint. Laura Stark @VanderbiltU mentions us in the last 6 minutes https://t.co/iXRZFwDNVY

[Native BioData Consortium @NativeBio]

6/n Phew!? The title is hard hitting! Our friend Jim Tabery tells it like it is! At 42 min and 53 min Dr. Tabery talks about how minorities and Indigenous people are going to get exploited if BioMedical researchers don't change their mindsets.. https://t.co/HxKmjZB3VL

5/n NativeBio has been on Science Friday before but here our IDSov colleagues from the Indigenous Data Alliance are on to back us up! We are at 11 mins but the whole thing is fantastic! https://t.co/bzLBitSnZX

4/n The larger threats of DNA and biomedicine such as denial of services and insurance coverage, stigma from infectious disease, incest or non-paternity, criminal forensics and imprisonment and loss of intellectual property. We are at the 45 min mark. https://t.co/mBD5EMIovM

3/n Here are the AI benefits and threats to Indigenous populations. At 7 mins it discusses that for AI to help Tribes, it has to be paired w/ culturally informed empowerment to ensure leaders the people can make the decisions to protect their lands. https://t.co/Kob7Dx51pB

2/n Just as in the podcast above, Dr Tsosie agrees with Dr. Stark that the landscape of tax funded research has majorly changed and become driven by individual "gold miners" seeking the next big discovery and patent (at 32 minutes) https://t.co/kjHokWp3M0

Recent research finds that the ovaries of old mice become infiltrated with immune cells and may secrete immune signals into the body.

The consequences of these changes aren’t clear, but a similar transformation in humans could have health implications after menopause.

Aging does not appear to follow the same molecular script for everyone, according to an 8-year study of more than 300 women.

The findings in Science reveal that individual molecular trajectories of aging can diverge substantially from population-wide patterns and are shaped not only by genetics but also by factors such as circadian rhythm, seasonality, and environmental exposures. Learn more: https://t.co/lMeN6KhpTg
