Im very glad to see our study on Arctic Skuas has just been published - it's all about the global conservation status (with population estimates for all countries) of these iconic seabirds, which we are losing at an alarming rate in the UK. https://t.co/VXrwWoyw4i
📉 Our new paper shows Bewick’s Swan numbers in NW/NE Europe have fallen to ~12,900 birds - a 56.7% decline since 1995, with further losses predicted by 2026 unless survival or breeding success improves. Flyway-wide conservation is urgent. 📷 Read paper > https://t.co/mGvk26Qdfv
I had a wonderful market last weekend in Aberdeen. All my sculpted mugs and plates found new homes, but I still have some sgraffito mugs and little ceramic birds, now listed on my website :)
I have been experimenting with new glazes. Very pleased with how these have come out 🐧 I will be at Aberdeen Ceramics Studio this weekend for our annual Christmas market 🎄
Can't believe it has been 3 years since I made these - I’m finally doing another run of these birdy sweaters! 🪶 If you missed them last time, now’s your chance :)
Remember the birdy sweaters I designed three years ago? They are back! I have come up with some new designs including guillemots, razorbills, curlews and even an emperor moth 🦋
The sgraffito mugs take the longest to carve, inspired by my love for the three auks I've had the privilege to study - Puffins, Guillemots, and Razorbills!
I originally decided to make one of my little seabirds because I wanted one for myself, but I quickly fell in love with making them. Because each one is hand sculpted and painted, every piece is unique in its own little way, yet together they make lovely flocks.
I have been trying to make time for pottery alongside my PhD. I did my first official market last weekend at the Bowhouse. I was very nervous before but it was so lovely to speak to so many people about my work! I have added a few leftover pieces to my new website 🐧
