The #moth survey across @greatfen this week produced some stunning results, including: the impressive Clifden Nonpareil (Blue Underwing), yet another L-album Wainscot, a magnificent male Great Silver Water Beetle, and plenty of the stunning Merveille du Jour.
Over the last two weeks I’ve been helping with the Water Vole surveys @wildlifebcn@greatfen.
It’s been quite challenging, but lots of fun! I’ll share a serious post about it soon, but you might like these funny videos of my surveys!
Nice to have a regular stream of #moth records coming in locally, thanks to my eagle-eyed young neighbours out #caterpillar hunting again. This time, it was an early stage #ElephantHawkMoth.
@leysbiotutor@BCT_NBMP@_BCT_@wildlifebcn@WildlifeAcoust The new version is - ours is about 3 years old and only the android version was available then. So we bought the cheapest Amazon fire tablet, which is only used as a battery detector!
August means @BCT_NBMP Waterway Surveys… join me on my survey of the river at Titchmarsh Nature Reserve.
The survey is monitoring Daubentons Bats and I’ll be back to do the follow up survey at the end of the month! 🦇
Great to have a little surprise in the #moth trap this morning. The scarlet underwings of this #JerseyTiger were great to see as it flew off afterwards.
This weekend I gave a talk @GlobalBirdfair on how young people can participate in Citizen Science projects to support Conservation. The talk is about 40 mins and you can watch it in full on YouTube

Driving home after BirdFair 2023 I sleepily asked Mum and Dad when I could give a talk at BirdFair. Not happy with their answer of a few more years, yesterday I gave a talk on Citizen Science in the Youth Hub.
Thank you to everyone who came!!
