Like millions of brothers and sisters, this year too we celebrated Rakshabandhan with my sister Suman. As I reflect on this special day filled with warmth for the incredible bond I share with her, this picture captures a moment we cherish every year. A tradition that goes beyond just a thread, symbolizing a connection that has only grown stronger with time.

Growing up, we shared more than just a home. We shared dreams, laughter, lessons, and a bond that has been a constant source of strength. While my brothers were…well my big brothers…my sister and I were not just close friends but also each other’s fiercest protectors.

The sibling bond is truly one of the most unique relationships in the world. Over the years it mellows into a mix of love, camaraderie, understanding, and unwavering support.

As I watched the next generation in the family tie rakhis and share the joy of this festival, I was reminded of the importance of nurturing these bonds. Roli, tika, mithai, arti, gifts, good food and friendly banter - it’s heartening to see the younger ones carry forward these traditions.

On this Rakshabandhan, I want to celebrate not just my sister, but the larger family and the countless memories.

I am also pleased to share that we are on track with our demerger into industry-leading, focused entities with sharper investment propositions.

When the Divine beckons, how can one help but answer the call?

A lifelong wish for the darshan of the sacred Badrinath-Kedarnath temples came to fruition recently. The deities finally called upon us and we visited their majestic abodes.

Part of the revered Char-Dhams, the Badrinath-Kedarnath shrines are a living testimony to India’s timeless #spiritual legacy. Making our way through stunning Himalayan vistas, the Badrinath temple appeared serenely before us, the mighty Neelkanth peak looming large in its backdrop. Such grandeur! And what peace. Amidst chanting of mantras, reverberation of dhols and shankhnaad, we did our aarti with and infinite gratitude.

Continuing to Kedarnath, we #trekked accompanied by sounds of the Mandakini and many other, to reach the ancient shrine. The glorious temple stood resilient against the elements, sanctuary to the faith of millions of bhakts. It was heartening to see the cleanliness and order maintained at these temples. We offered our prayers and asked for blessings.

Witnessing the ocean of pilgrims that comes for just a glimpse of the Divine, one wonders, does their devotion put the divinity in the Divine? #IncredibleIndia

We'd been planning to visit Ayodhya for some time now and recently made our way to Ram Janmabhoomi. Witnessing the magnificent Ram Mandir in all its glory was a moving experience.

Entering the sanctum sanctorum, we were in the presence of the beloved Ram Lalla idol. Resplendent, ethereal, almost lifelike. As the chants of "Jai Shri Ram" and conch shells reverberated, we could almost feel the presence of the divine.

Legend has it that no trip to #Ayodhya is considered complete without a visit to the famous Hanuman Garhi temple. Inside the garbha griha, the revered Hanuman, in his youthful form, sits affectionately in the lap of his mother Anjani.

Our visit culminated with some peaceful moments by the serene Sarayu River. The river is believed to have witnessed the life of Lord Ram, from his birth to his death, where he is said to have given up his earthly form. It holds a special place in the hearts of devotees.

Our recent trip to Northeast India became more memorable with an unexpected detour to the mighty Brahmaputra River. Unlike the serene reputation of many rivers, the Brahmaputra is known for its aggressive currents, earning it the unique distinction of being India’s only 'male' river, perhaps a testament to its temperament.

The #Brahmaputra, translating to ‘Son of Brahma’, holds a special place in the hearts of many religious communities. To truly #experience this natural wonder, we took a boat ride and spotted the endangered Gangetic dolphin frolicking in its shimmering waters. Meanwhile, our boatman regaled us with stories of the magnificent river, including the historical Battle of Saraighat, where the ruling Ahom kingdom pushed back invading Mughal forces on its banks in Guwahati.

It is impossible to be unmoved by the reverence the locals have for the river. It is indeed the lifeline of the communities across Tibet, India and Bangladesh, sustaining diverse #ecosystems and livelihoods along its path.

Stepping into the park, one can’t help but be struck by how well maintained it is, thoughtfully conserved to ensure visitors can enjoy its beauty without disturbing the natural #ecosystem. A special mention goes to the Department of Environment and Forests, Govt. of Assam, for their commendable efforts in maintaining this park. Their work reflects a deep commitment to preserving this treasure for generations to come.

This journey was a refreshing break from city life, offering peace, adventure, and a deeper appreciation for nature. I can’t wait to return and explore more of this enchanting region!

North East India is a region brimming with hidden treasures, waiting to be discovered. For a family break recently, Ruchira, Ananya and Naivedya and I visited the Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site that is home to the endangered one-horned rhinos. Sporadic showers had transformed the landscape into a lush, green paradise.

#Kaziranga, though famous for its rhinos, is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. We witnessed majestic elephants, wild buffalos, exotic lizards, tortoises, and many more fascinating creatures. Connecting with nature in such a pristine #environment was an unforgettable experience for us...

Nothing brings greater joy to a parent than seeing their children thrive. I am immensely proud of our daughter-in-law, Ananya Agarwal, who is blazing her own trail as a passionate, young entrepreneur, inspiring countless others along the way.

Shunning cushy international jobs at top companies, she chose to leverage her Harvard education and global experience to make a significant impact in her own country. Three years ago, driven by sheer grit and determination she founded @hellonyumi, her nutraceutical company, building it from the ground up. Her company continues to grow from strength to strength with each passing day.

Even more remarkable is her ability to lovingly balance her #family, health, friends, leisure, and #spirituality while nurturing her rapidly growing #startup. As parents, we offer unconditional support to our children in fulfilling their dreams. When those dreams are pursued with powerful action, it is a potent combination.

As the sun rose this morning, I felt a great sense of pride and responsibility as I cast my #vote in the #LokSabhaElections2024.
