Why in the hell is the NFL sending American football players into Paris while the city is dealing with violent riots and civil unrest?

The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints are scheduled to play there Sunday, despite serious security concerns.

The NFL says they’re increasing security. Wonderful. But why put these players, coaches, families and fans in that position to begin with?

These men signed up to play football, not navigate riots in a foreign country.

At what point does chasing international revenue become more important than protecting your own people?

What exactly is the problem with this?
I filmed this after Mass this morning. As we do every morning, we prayed the Hail Holy Queen and the Prayer to St Michael together. It is a beautiful, familiar part of our daily Catholic life, uniting us in prayer to Our Lady and asking the protection of St Michael as we go out into the world.
Yet this is precisely the sort of practice Bishop Mark Beckman of Knoxville has instructed his priests to discontinue immediately after Mass, invoking Vatican II's principle of "noble simplicity".
Watching ordinary Catholics praying together, I struggle to understand what possible pastoral good is achieved by discouraging such devotion. The Mass has ended, nothing has been added to the liturgy, and the faithful are simply drawing upon the extraordinary spiritual treasury of the Church.
Vatican II expressly commended popular devotions in Sacrosanctum Concilium §13. It did not envisage "noble simplicity" becoming a justification for stripping Catholic life of the very practices that have nourished generations of believers.
At a time when the Church desperately needs to recover a sense of the supernatural, of the reality of evil and our dependence upon God's grace, surely our bishops should be encouraging more prayer, not less?
I look at this congregation praying together after Mass and see something to cherish and encourage, not a problem to be corrected.
