The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) stated that more than 1,400 scientists called on the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) to end its cooperation with Israeli agencies involved in crimes of extermination in Gaza.

The signatories of the letter emphasized that continuing cooperation with Israeli institutions constitutes direct support for Israeli violations against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

They urged CERN to comply with international law and to halt any partnerships that could enable the Israeli occupation to commit war crimes.

Israeli occupation authorities have prevented members of the Palestinian Committee for the Administration of Gaza from entering the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing, despite the committee planning to begin its work this week as part of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

The decision to block entry comes amid Israel’s refusal to open the crossing, despite US calls to do so as part of implementing the plan, which aims to establish a temporary administration of the territory through three main bodies, including a non-political Palestinian Technocrats Committee to manage civil affairs.

Sources confirmed that committee members still do not know when or how they will begin their work on the ground due to Israel’s refusal to allow their entry, while the Israeli cabinet has decided not to open the crossing at this time.
