Pope Leo on war: “Humanity possesses far more effective and capable tools for promoting human life and resolving conflicts, such as dialogue, diplomacy and forgiveness. The use of force, violence and weapons reflects a relational poverty that always has disastrous consequences for civilian populations.”
The swastika carved into a car on the Upper East Side is a despicable act of antisemitism. It is a hateful attack of intimidation on our Jewish neighbors and on the values that make our city what it is.
I have full confidence the NYPD, which is investigating this as a hate crime, will do everything to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
To every Jewish New Yorker: your city stands with you. We will confront acts of antisemitism wherever they appear with urgency and without exception.
It blows my mind every day how this society operates under the lie that there isn't enough. We throw away tons of food, we have more empty houses than homeless people, and our landfills are full of clothing and furniture.
Billionaires don't get rich in a vacuum.
They get rich off workers who don't get paid enough to survive. Off communities that were stripped of good jobs. Off a tax code their lobbyists wrote for them.
We built this country. We deserve to benefit from it.
Tax the rich.
You know who was given the no-bid contract for the reflecting pond filtration? You know the reflecting now all f*ed up with algae? Green Water solutions. Owned by JJ Cafaro who’s a long time Trump donor, his PB neighbor, AND in the Epstein files. Nothing to see here folks….
Communion is never an achievement acquired once and for all. It requires a daily conversion, taking shape in prayer and through concrete attitudes, relationships of trust, and a willingness to listen to one another. #ExtraordinaryConsistory
A single adult with no kids needs to make $106,745 to live comfortably in the United States and the Trump administration calls this the golden ages of America.
@UziCryptoo If you can afford a $500 million wedding, several yachts, & a space hobby you can afford to pay taxes to the country that gave you the freedom to get rich in the first place
@ToddNidasqM@UziCryptoo “Sure they could pay employees more but then prices would go up”
How about wages go up, profits go down ? The Waltons would still be unbelievably wealthy… why isn’t it an option?
@UziCryptoo This is an intereresting take, I could see sliding a corporate tax rate based on amount of employees that require government aid why should other corps and people pay because your treat your employees like shit.
@TanyaA4204 Cheaper groceries don’t mean much when the same workers stocking the shelves need food stamps to survive. Taxpayers are covering what Walmart won’t.
The biggest welfare recipient in America is the richest family in America, the Walton family, who inherited Walmart, never have to work a day in their lives & are worth $354 billion by paying wages so low that many Walmart workers rely on food stamps, Medicaid & public housing.
