Last Thursday, my friend Bob Lunney, also known as Rear Admiral J. Robert Lunney, passed away. He was 94. Bob was an instrumental part of the humanitarian evacuation at Hungnam in 1950, an episode which is sadly reminiscent of the refugees leaving Ukraine, Syria, Afghanistan, etc

Lt. Shaw is buried at Yanghwajin Foreign Missionary Cemetery in Seoul. It was an honor to pay my respects there today. #KoreanWar

One of the many sacrifices made during the #KoreanWar was by Lt. William Hamilton Shaw, who was killed #OTD in 1950.

In 2010, a statue of Lt. Shaw was unveiled at Eunpyeong Peace Park in Seoul. His former students from the ROK Naval Academy also memorialized him with a statue. #KoreanWar
