3) Perfect is the enemy of good
There is a tendency to not write because you feel like you haven't read enough and hence your work won't be perfect. I learnt it quite late in my research process that often you just need to write what you can. It does not need to be perfect. 3/3
3 things I learnt while writing my Master Thesis:
1) (More) methods
As someone who actively shirked qualitative methods due to my aversion to mathematics, I found myself wishing I had more methods at my disposal to enrich my research. (1/n)
2) Time Management
One of the earliest pieces of advice given to me by my supervisor was the importance of scheduling the research process. It couldn't have been more true as towards the end, I found myself rushing and wished I had stuck to my internal deadlines. (2/n)
Ambassador @ischinger delivered a particularly impactful quote about diplomacy yesterday at @Hertie_Security's event. <Paraphrased> "Diplomacy is the promotion of circumstances that allow for peace". Realistic yet allowing for some optimism.
I had scarcely bothered to follow #FIFAWorldCup2022. However, with the nail-biting final that is going on, I can't help but refresh my Google, #NYT and Twitter feeds.
@johngreen, do you feel like #writingblocks are existential events, like say, #rollercoasters? At the onset, there is the regret of wasted time; in the end, it feels like it was no big deal. Between those two points, your whole existence goes up for a toss.
Or is it just me?
@Vidushi_Gupta7 I do not know whether to thank you or apologise to you. Maybe a bit of both. Although I quite like the idea of me as a Prof. who tweets incessantly . One day (hopefully).
I just got to say that I love reading @johngreen’s tweets. It’s like with his books, whether it be a good day or a bad one, his words bring to a mind an ineradicably hopeful person (I’ve never met the dude) and that somehow makes my day.
Just discovered @tarangjoseph. An up and coming artist with euphonious vocals and a very refreshing feel. Sad that I only did so after leaving Bangalore and can no longer expect to watch him live.

Prof @SporrerWolfgang ended the spring semester at Hertie today with the reminder (paraphrasing here) that Peace isn’t just an aspiration of the quixotic IR scholars but also a possibility for the most hawkish neo-realist. Words to live or rather practice IR by!
I must say that I am excited for Jet Airways to begin commercial operations again. Much of my childhood has been spent travelling in comfort with Jet and I can't wait to have that again. Hopefully along with customer satisfaction, Jet will excercise financial prudence too.
Today, May 5, our 29th birthday, Jet Airways flew again! An emotional day for all of us who have been waiting, working, and praying for this day, as well as for Jet's loyal customers who can't wait for Jet to commence operations again.
It seems to me and my limited sensibilities that the preeminent problem of the human condition is a lack of kindness. I know I'm not perfect by far and wide but if only all of us could be just a little more kind to our fellow humans, how wonderful it'd be.
