@em_Lazzy The government is already $39 trillion in debt and spends $1.7 trillion more than it takes in every year, If the government could end homelessness and hunger, the government would have already done it. $60 billion spending would only increase the debt by 0.15%.
@BiatchDulce The third option means paying interest on the loans. Do it for many years and the debt and interest expense grows exponentially. They will have to take out even larger loans to pay the interest on the previous loans. They will have to stop digging the hole at some point.
@mcsquared34 You do have a right to eat. But you don't have the right to steal it or have someone else steal it for you. Many private charities will give away food.
@mcsquared34 How does the healthcare industry stop you from changing jobs? Who forced you to borrow money to get a degree that is not worth the money? Most companies offer vacation and sick leave as well as paid holidays. Where do you work that doesn't?
@SCharkewycz@MyArrse@michael45982804 He was the one bragging about caring for the poor, not me. I am 70 years old & will be forced to start withdrawing money from my IRA in large amounts soon. I have not given as much to charity as I should in the past, but I will be using the QCD provision to give a lot more soon.
@healthylaugh@3rdeyeopen6@keepitquarterly Israel is a tiny country surrounded by countries that want them all dead. They have their hands full just defending themselves against rockets being fired at them nearly every day. They do not have any control over either political party in the US.
@SenSanders Social Security is a forced retirement savings and disability insurance plan. If you make rich people contribute more, they get more when they retire. How does that help the people who put less into the system?
@ItsLulu_7 N. Korea/Cuba=poverty.
Venezuela did well under capitalism, not under Chavez & Maduro's socialism. Even in the US socialist ideas fail. e.g. government groceries in KC, MO. Poverty has been around for thousands of years before capitalism was invented.
Lulu is blind to history.
@healthylaugh@3rdeyeopen6@keepitquarterly Democrats are not sane.
I do agree that many Republicans are also corrupt. But on average, they are less corrupt than Dems. All the more reason to not let them have more money & thus more power. Since GOP are more likely to cut taxes & Dems to increase them, I lean GOP.
@SenJeffMerkley The US gave the same aid out for the outbreak as always. It was just done by the State Department instead of USAID that was mismanaged & full of fraud & waste.
@Provokethoughtz Wages have gone up faster. For example, Austin TX. Minimum wage is still $7.25. starting wage at McDonalds in Austin Texas has gone from $7.25 to $13.41, up 85% while as you said the food was up only 30%. The minimum wage law only sets a floor, not a ceiling.
@healthylaugh@3rdeyeopen6@keepitquarterly Which is worse:
Trump: "We have the best economy in history!"
Democrats: "Creating a fake dossier so they can spy on the Trump campaign."
Every president from Carter on promised to move the US embassy to Jerusalem. Which one kept the promise? Did it for pennies on the dollar too.
@DorothyEubank16 The rich pay the vast majority of taxes collected in the US. Not that it matters. If the government took 100% of the billionaires increase in net worth, it would not be enough to balance the budget for even 1 year, let alone allow for new spending. Deficit is $1.7 trillion.
@DuuuvalsFinest@Coach_Yac Lawrence has better rushing stats & runs more often. I haven't watched Lawrence play. Is he good at scrambling & then making good throws on the run? That is where Purdy excels. Purdy's passing stats are much better & his running stats aren't bad. He ran more in college.
@AnthonyRedstar@JL_Chapman Purdy is a workaholic. He knows what his shortcomings are & works on them.
e.g. He knew coming out of college that he had a weak arm. He worked on it & increased his initial ball velocity by 10% that summer. It's still not a rocket arm, but it is slightly above NFL QB avg.
@beyond_capital Money does not guarantee happiness. Many rich people aren't. Money makes it easier to be happy. My wife & I live on about $60,000 a year. That's easily enough to be able to be happy. Happiness comes from relationships & feeling you are doing something productive with your life.
