Ph.D. Candidate at University of Georgia πΊπΈ. Work is focused on understanding epigenetic regulation of GAG biosynthesis and its role in tumorigenesis.
@ThePhDPlace I feel pretty blessed that I feel my academic superpower is speaking and communicating science! My ability to remain calm and composed on-stage while remaining fairly engaging is the skill I am MOST grateful for.
Now what's my weakness, hmm.. π
This is compounded by the fact that it has become increasingly difficult to find new faces in academia compared to before. As a PhD trainee, this stunts my networking ability. I do not wish to see the flooding non-relevant content pushed to me.
The recent spikes in attacks on academics on X, especially women and POCs in academia, is the final straw for my professional account. It is disheartening to see a platform I used to enjoy engaging with devolve into a deterrent.
@lornakmilne We're aiming for the same! I still need to book flights soon, but that sounds like a great idea! I can DM you the details once we finalize π
This may have been me at the 2022 Proteoglycans GRC π But I'm honored to be coming back as a discussion leader in both GRS and GRC, seeing new and familiar faces, and forging some rich connections! Networking is the name of the game!
@rjweiss86@SFGlycobiology@basuamri Barely crawling my way through LAX as we venture back to Georgia on the worst itinerary known to man, but man was this whole past week worth it! Can't wait to keep climbing to round this year out!
Being able to see GAGs at this level of detail feels almost surreal.. Amazing work, and always stuns me seeing the imaging resolutions we're now capable of!
Such an honor to be invited back to my 2nd @2022Pg Proteoglycans Gordon Research Conference! Thank you to the amazing organizing committee and looking forward to hearing the awesome work being done on our favorite glycan chains π
Messed up my neck so bad, I've barely been able to move the past couple of days. Having a swivel chair has been my only saving grace to move my eyes from one screen to another during this grant writing π
Very proud to be part of this, and thanks to @Glycopedia and @DraganaNikitov1 for giving us the opportunity to share our views on the future of GAG research!
