I’m so excited. My secret (not so secret) observational experiment is about to begin.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for wastewater surveillance.
FIFA World cup.

The anatomical proximity and direct connection between the olfactory bulb and the orbital prefrontal cortex (OFC) make it a key neuroinvasion route for #COVID in the brain. In patients with #NeuroCovid, we observe thrombotic events, hypometabolism and atrophy in this region.

A break-up note, quietly published in the AFR…
“Sorry, but I’ve found someone new.”
The fact that the IPA is now backing One Nation, and de-legitimising the Liberals, is significant.
The IPA was founded to assist with the establishment of the Liberal Party.
- It had a seat at the table when the party was forming.
- It wrote the Menzies’ early policy platforms.
- Director CD Kemp (who founded the IPA alongside the Murdochs, Coles, and BHP) left papers from this era that became the official history of the Liberal Party.
- The IPA became an intergenerational power base. Kemp’s two sons were Liberal ex-Ministers.
- The IPA-to-MP pipeline delivered Tim Wilson, John Pesutto, James Paterson and many more.
Now, allies are abandoning ship – not leaping into a void, but abandoning the IPA’s historic free-market ideals and Liberal Party links to chase shifting institutional power.
We can debate whether it’s driven by a desire to maintain relevance, or capture by Rinehart (who bankrolls both One Nation and the IPA) – but the cause is irrelevant and the outcome is the same.
Once the IPA has legitimised One Nation as “mainstream” and de-legitimised the Liberals as implicitly fringe, there’s no going back.
(In the UK, the same story: The Institute of Economic Affairs, a stalwart Tory ally, helped undermine the Tories and drive Reform.)
The IPA has picked a side, and sorry Liberals: it ain’t you.
They’ve run off with some redhead girl from Ipswich, and are going to spend the next few years stringing you along.
The lesson here is that core public services must not be privatised and this service, court transcription, should be brought back into the public service.
@JonesHowDareYou Brilliant film, where the message is only revealed at the end. War is a permanent part of the human condition. And what Hitler said is correct. Europe and the USA didn’t want the Jewish refugees, so they shipped them into Palestine to keep them at arms length.
We must be crystal clear about a few points. Long Covid is not a "poorly understood neuroimmune disorder" with no biomarkers. It is a widely studied biological medical condition. Pathology spanning basically all body systems is well documented, with damage in situ across organs
AstraZeneca's decision to withdraw this drug from the PBS will affect 1000's of women in Australia living with endo & breast cancer.
They say it's a "commercial decision" but are leaving the higher dose used for prostate cancer as is.
I asked questions at Estimates yesterday on behalf of Canberrans who had contacted me, worried about what their treatment looks like in the future.
I urge AZ to front up and explain what's happening - women with breast cancer deserve transparency here.

Australia's antisemitism czar released a document which simultaneously asserts that "antisemitism and antizionism are both expressions of hatred towards Jews" AND that "It is antisemitic to conflate the policies of the Israeli government with the views of Jewish Australians".
These two sentences are contradictory and mutually exclusive. They cannot both be true. If it's wrong to conflate all Jews with Israel, then it cannot be right to conflate a rejection of the pro-Israel political ideology with a hatred toward all Jews. It's either one or the other. It can't be both.
Just in case you wanted a little more insight into how absurd and incoherent this fake "antisemitism" panic is.
Artificial Intelligence is built on the creative work of millions of writers, artists, musicians, journalists, teachers, scientists and ordinary people. That work has been stolen by Big Tech oligarchs.
Now's the time to reclaim it and ensure AI works for ALL, not just the few.
It’s a national embarrassment that a former Labor minister is crowdfunding for an independent inquiry into AUKUS, one which the government keeps denying us.
You wonder why people are giving up on the major parties: first they commit us to an extraordinarily expensive deal with unreliable allies and even less reliable deliverables, now they change terms of the deal without real transparency, and tell us we're getting a good deal when we’re paying the same for less. Australians aren't buying it.

Just as over the last quarter century governments have quietly transferred the cost of education to parents. User pays neo liberalism means youse pays.
🚨REVEALED🚨 Secret night-time shipments are happening of High Explosives manufactured by a foreign arms company in an Australian government-owned facility — approved for export and headed ultimately to Israel to kill Palestinians.
Excellent reporting from @DaveMilbo for @shot_au:
“Australia is manufacturing the raw explosive that ends up inside the bombs falling on Gaza, on Lebanon, and on Iran.
“Not the entirety of the bombs. Just the explosive bits. And even Penny Wong wouldn’t have the gall to argue that nitroglycerin, nitrocellulose, and RDX (known as cyclonite) are the “non-lethal parts” of a bomb.
“Two factories, one in NSW, at Mulwala, and one in Victoria, in Benalla, manufacture the munitions that end up inside the shells, bullets, missiles and bombs used by the US-Israeli death machine in its expansionist, genocidal campaigns.”

At last! An independent public inquiry into the fiasco that is AUKUS.
A great team of Commissioners led by Peter Garrett. As days go by the problems, changes and complexities multiply.
Why are we spending $368b to appease Trump and attack our most important trading partner?
New study: Long COVID may affect 1️⃣ in 6 infected patients.
That number is far higher than official estimates.

For those of you who say voting Independent & Greens is a wasted vote, spend some time watching these guys in Senate Estimates saving our democracy & holding Ministers & public servants to account. Two of our hardest working, most effective Senators ever.
In its 3 years of operation, the NACC claims to have been involved in 11 successful corruption convictions.
The reality is that 10 of those 11 were investigations started by the previous ALEIC and investigated by the ALEIC. In other words, they were investigations the NACC inherited.
To date, the NACC has cost Australian taxpayers approximately $220 million. It has received over ~ 7,620 referrals of corruption. It has already had 3 formal investigations commenced against it by the NACC Inspector General.
It has paid out over $10.5 million in salary packages to its top 5 executives, (including Paul Brereton) spent in excess of $10 million on office leases, refurbishments and parking spaces in 5 separate locations around Australia, racked up over $3.5 million in airfares, accommodation and sundry travel costs internationally and across Australia, produced several hundred of something called "presentations" around Australia and overseas - and this massive, bureaucratic behemoth called the National Anti-Corruption Commission "with teeth" has so far delivered:
1 conviction.
Zero public hearings.

"Our government has decided they need about 4% unemployment at all times
So it's really hard to see that you have to be forced into compulsory activities, you don't have a liveable Centrelink payment, you're living hundreds of dollars a week below the poverty line" - @kristin8x
