@PeteN1917 @lestageog @Sarah_M_Hall Sorry to have missed this conversation (January twitter hiatus), but some excellent points I have tried to respond to! V. Interesting to reflect on how /when do/can communities work against social and economic inequality - and how to support them from the academy.
@PeteN1917 @lestageog @Sarah_M_Hall Yes, outpost of what? (dissent - culture/capital). And outpost for whom? (In these 'assets' there is big difference between building users and managers).
@lestageog @PeteN1917@Sarah_M_Hall Interesting from an empirical/experiential perspective - the ideas of anchors for dispersed communities resonates. And in relation to place where vulnerable communities find accepting spaces in contrast to violent/aggressive 'public' realms
@PeteN1917 @lestageog @Sarah_M_Hall Yes, this ABCD can be a liability and coercive, and offer support (along the lines of Dean Spade's (2020) 2 big jobs for social movements 1) organise everyday survival, 2) mobilise resistance).
@PeteN1917 @lestageog @Sarah_M_Hall I agree not always, and also, space can be a useful lens to recognise, and point of operation for respite across diverse communities of interest
