I’m getting very worried when Eamon Ryan is supporting me.
We need to have a debate in Ireland about our energy policies.
We should make decisions based on science, engineering, environment and economics.
Our energy security is too important to leave to political ideology.
Absolutely incredible…
After days of hot air, Sinn Féin actually voted AGAINST excise cuts in the Dáil this evening.
They were the only opppsition party to do this.
They literally voted against measures to reduce the price at the pumps for motorists.
A pleasure to open the Shannonbridge B facility.
As Ireland’s first hybridised grid-stabilisation system, this synchronous condenser and battery storage is crucial infrastructure to secure our grid and climate future
But this morning they abstained on a vote condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine in the European Parliament.
Not to mention voting against a vital €90bn loan facility.
If that’s solidarity…..
Why are so few households in Ireland paying a lot for housing despite high rents and a housing shortage?
1) very low social housing rents
2) large chunk of private renters getting government payments
3) relatively large numbers in own homes with no mortgage.
‘Don’t listen to reports of Ireland’s demise’. A link to my contribution to @WSJopinion correcting the falsehoods about #Ireland peddled by British commentator Dominic Green earlier in the week. Thanks to @WSJ for giving me space to set the record straight. https://t.co/M6mqpEDPYf
In DC this morning and Ireland has a whole page in the U.S edition of the FT dedicated to the Irish government’s shirking on defence. Still ,I guess prioritising funding of the lefty NGO sector 5 to 1 over defence is worth it for some.
@ConorHogarty@SimonHarrisTD@EmmanuelMacron Total cost of squadron of say Saab Gripen or KA 50 Korean jets, plus ancillary costs no more than €500m over at least three budgets, with €20m pa operational cost. Air policing a peacetime sovereign responsibility we ignore. Ireland can afford fast jets.
The Department of Defence is developing its new National Maritime Security Strategy.

Does anyone know what, if anything, we import from the OTs? In what way will this Bill benefit Palestinians? I trust that government has weighed up the pros & cons of moving ahead with this.
@jim_demps Why don’t you talk about the fact that Leinster get to play with a great team in a hay barn of a stadium while Munster play with in an amazing stadium with a hay barn of a team, maybe the funding of this impacts the other?
@donal_brenna @BlaBlaBluester @jim_demps Could have sworn the feeder schools were around longer then Leinster have been successful, so what’s the difference?
@adam_mcca@RuaidhriOC Seriously deluded, was it not the same international that Crowley made his first start 2 years ago surpassing a certain Joey? didn’t hear any complaints then from you, we need strength in this position.
@loosehead1981@KarljRichardson@jim_demps Big Joe was not a starter for Leinster at that time, VdF and Henshaw if recollection is correct were first game back from injury and elephant in the room had an European cup final the following week.
