Irish Peace Park commemorates the Irish of Ireland sitting on a section of the Messines & Wytschaete Ridge. An idea born by Paddy Harte & Glen Barr which through their commitment and dedication saw coming to fruition with the memorial being inaugurated in November 1998 on Armistice Day.
The Messines & Wytschaete Ridge chosen as the ideal location given that the 16th Irish Division and the 36th Ulster Division had fought side by side in the Battle of Messines, 7th June 1917.
Their line of attack was towards Wytschaete and Spanbroekmolen from the direction of areas along and adjacent to the Kemmel Road. Both Divisions achieved their objectives as did the whole of the Battle of Messines, even still successfully achieving objectives does comes at a cost for all of the Divisions that participated.

@sommecourt@OldFrontLinePod@masaccio60 I bought the book a couple of weeks ago, on your recommendation. Listened to the podcast. Tom is a nutter but wow, what an inspiration.
The great Paul Whitehouse is 68 years old today, which means I am obliged to post this (again!) - arguably the most majestically random but brilliant comedy sketch committed to celluloid for at least the last, what, forty, forty five years?
Yes, forty, forty five years.
Happy birthday Paul 🤘
‘Are you Celtic in disguise’ sung by Forest fans after bizarre VAR decision at old Trafford.
Celtic now being used as a synonym for cheating, the whole world knows.
@SPFLWatch Mickey Mouse league has moved to Butlins.
Let’s see how Celtic and Hearts do in Europe next year. Subbuteo would be embarrassed by that league.
Popped by to see the Excellent RE demonstration stand at a show in Gravesend with Sapper Shand (clay kickers) showing the work of the 252nd Tunnelling Company at Beaumont Hamel. Well done mate!

Times change. In 1975 ITV’s coverage of the FA Cup Final between West Ham United and Fulham featured comedian Freddie Starr dressed as Adolf Hitler holding a tickling stick.
“I think he’s sending a message to the outside that things in that dressing room aren’t right” 😬
Steven Gerrard on Mo Salah’s latest tweet, seemingly calling out the standards at Liverpool right now 👀
I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that.
Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies. That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.
Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.
Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on.
As I’ve always said, qualifying to next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen.
@LFC Why does Slot always talk in the third person stating the obvious. “We’ve a leaky defence!” “We don’t score enough goals!”
“When is someone gonna come and fix that?”
GET HIM OUT!
