Last night, a video of Togolese artist Aamron who was abducted on May 26th by over 50 armed soldiers circulated online. In it, he appears pale, disoriented and confirms in a trembling voice that he is being held at the psychiatric hospital of Zébé. Then, in a disturbing and clearly coerced moment, he asks for forgiveness from @FEGnassingbe the very dictator responsible for his abduction.

This video is not a confession or an apology but an evidence:

Evidence of torture.
Evidence of psychological abuse.
Evidence of a regime so desperate to silence dissent that it now uses mental health facilities as prisons for artists.

Aamron is not mentally ill. He is a musician, a father, a citizen who dared to call out injustice and corruption through his art. The regime’s attempt to paint him as unstable is nothing short of barbaric. It is a tactic pulled from the darkest pages of history when tyrants locked away truth-tellers and called them mad.

The video proves beyond doubt that Aamron has been tortured. His dazed state, his broken speech, his forced plea for forgiveness none of it reflects the man we saw weeks ago, standing strong and proud with his family

The regime may control the institutions, but it cannot erase our memory.

We demand:
✔️The immediate release of Aamron.
✔️An independent investigation into his detention and torture.
✔️Accountability for every official and medical practitioner involved in this abuse.
