We have been laughing at the beer parlor gist videos that depict Nigerian middle-aged men and their conversations while drinking in local watering holes. While alcohol ruins health, they are better off mentally because of those friendships and hilarious conversations.
British pubs or American bars can never be the same as our local beer parlors. I don't drink, but I used to hang out with friends who drink at those places, and I laughed so much. Roots in Manchester was a favorite.
Diaspora life changed a lot of things for some Nigerians, and there are many privately struggling with mental health issues. Someone opened up to me recently about why he disconnected from everything for a while and wanted to come back home.
I now understand why Detty December is taken seriously by many. It is desperately needed therapy.
@EmotionsDoctor discussed with me building places for adults to hang out, be themselves, and play like kids without stress. It is desperately needed. Too much adulting can make people snap.
I had a conversation with a divorced friend at wits' end on Saturday. Child care is stressing her out, and she is tired of her job. Outwardly, everyone thinks all is well, and she is doing great, but inwardly she was screaming. I couldn't tell her what I desperately wanted to tell her, as Nigerians would likely see it as an insult. It also wouldn't be very helpful.
Many in the Diaspora need to take a break, come back home for a while, and do less. I wish it were that easy, but we have to help each other to make it easier. Raising children without community support is extremely hard. Our ancestors got some things right; it does take a village.
I am grateful each day for my choice to return, find my own African rhythm, and find my village.
We have now institutionalized ISEE, and it is now a formally registered non-governmental organization.
ISEE was rejected several times by the Corporate Affairs Commission until we amended the name to INITIATIVE FOR SCHOOL EXCELLENCE AND EDUCATION FOUNDATION.
Our chairman is Prof. Bath Nnaji, and I will continue to lead the vision.
Our members are Nathan Nwachuku, Eke Urum, and Tony Udeani.
The goal is for the vision to outlive our generation and lead us to civilization.
This is the beginning of greatness for Africa.

I took a 25% paycut to switch to the tech industry. It made more sense, and I saved more money because:
- The office was a walking distance, so I sold my car and invested the money in T-bills.
- I didn’t need to invest heavily in shoes, suits, and shirts; all I needed were my T-shirts.
- I had full control of my time. Back then, we used desktops, but in the tech industry, they gave us MacBooks!
There was no way I was going to accelerate the way I did in banking so the 25% was very worth it !

@asemota All those extra cleats, watches, belts & chargers are some people's own hack to manage the costs. Growing up I knew a mom whose parting words as my guy de return school were "those things you donated last term, it's now your turn to receive charity".
#Cavs sent about $4 million to Charlotte as incentive for the Hornets to take on Dennis Schroder’s contract, sources tell @clevelanddotcom. Cleveland didn’t want to include draft capital in a Schroder deal — and avoided doing it

Everybody doesn’t have to invest in the stock market. I have a friend with about €200,000 invested in Nigeria FG Savings Bonds. He structured his investments through bond laddering, so he receives payments every month, and he sleeps well.
At the end of the day, investing is personal. Some people simply prefer peace of mind and predictable income.
🚨Leicester City are currently playing in the 3rd tier of English football
The club have one of the best training facilities in the world and have been listed for sale with an asking price of $200m
The Cavaliers free up $6.8 million in this swap. They’re approximately $30 million under the first apron with at least one open roster spot, one of which is for James Harden.
They’re also $42 million under the second apron and could still increase payroll up to it.

🇳🇬 IMPORTANT: What Nigerians Need to Know About Digital Birth Registration
Nigeria is moving from paper-based birth registration to a digital Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (VitalReg) system. For Nigerians who still have older/manual birth certificates, NPC now provides a Certificate Reissuance process for eligible non-digital certificates.
Here are some important things to know:
🔹 Children 0–5: Birth registration is free at NPC registration centres.
🔹 Birth registration covers ages 0–17, while Birth Attestation is for people aged 18 and above.
🔹 NIN is now an important part of the process. NPC's system uses NIN to link identity and civil-registration records.
🔹 For a child's registration, the parent's Attestation Number may be required, while NPC says the child's NIN is also part of the registration requirements.
🔹 If you have an old/manual birth certificate, NPC has a Certificate Reissuance service. Eligible applicants need their NIN and must upload the old non-digital certificate.
🔹 Those using the self-service system may also need Birth Attestation before they can complete a child's registration.

The bigger issue is public awareness.
How many Nigerians with old birth certificates know that there is now a digital process for reissuance? How many know the NIN, attestation and other requirements before they get to an NPC office?
The National Population Commission @natpopcom and National Orientation Agency (@NOA_Nigeria) should take this information to the grassroots through radio, television, social media and community engagement.
Digital transformation is good. But Nigerians must be properly informed before they are asked to navigate the new system.
This information could save someone a lot of time and frustration. 🇳🇬 @AsiwajuOladimej
