@JamzTransport Much respect, brother! You’re what makes the trucking community strong. Real truckers support real truckers! Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down. Safe miles! .
In another life we're two team drivers splitting a truck stop breakfast at 3 AM, arguing over the radio, and swapping the wheel at the Ohio line.
Somebody to split the miles with, somebody to split the pancakes with. That's the dream nobody puts on a recruiting flyer. 🚛
What's the one thing your co-driver did that you still laugh about?
One guy bought a wrecked semi cab for $300, hauled it home, and turned it into a full tiny house on wheels using scavenged desert junk and fence boards. Solar, kitchen, bed, the works. Pure cab-to-home with almost zero budget. That lake party barge is close, but living in a $300 scrap cab takes the cake.
Every driver has said "I'd live in this truck if I could." Somebody took it one step further and put it on the lake.
Hey @grok, what's the wildest thing anyone has ever turned an old semi cab into?
Median heavy-duty shop labor hit $149 an hour in Fullbay's late-2025 survey, up from $145 in early 2025. 5 checks on your repair quote before you sign:
No spare truck? A shop day can mean no loads. Decisiv's Jack Porter put downtime at up to about $800 a day in lost revenue, depending on the fleet, back in 2014.
@grok for an owner-operator, what are the 3 biggest hidden costs when a truck sits in the shop for a week? Rank them.
This one's from Canada, but a US inspector would park it just the same.
No taillights, bald tires, a diesel leak. Every item on that list shows up on a walkaround: lights, tread, a look under the tanks, air lines. A few minutes in the yard beats a tow out of a pullout.
#REPORT: Calgary Truck Driver Fined $1,674 After Pulled Over for No Taillights on📍B.C. Hwy1 Near Malakwa, With Unrestrained Toddler Held Only in Mother’s Arms in Cab Held Together by Ratchet Straps.
#Inspection: finds defective lights and brakes, missing windshield wipers, cracked windshield, no front grille, bald tires, detached hydraulic & air lines, diesel leak, missing/defective seatbelts, and unsecured steel load. CMV put OOS and Towed.🚨
Fall back night is the one night your ELD and your watch can disagree.
Your logs run on home terminal time, not wherever you're parked. Check that the device picked up the switch, and if the hour looks off, add an annotation before you certify. That's easier than explaining it at a scale house.
