Mike Tyson vs. Don Halpin is a perfect example of why pressure isn't always about throwing nonstop punches.

Tyson was only 18 and just three fights into his professional career, but you can already see the blueprint developing.

Instead of rushing for the knockout, Tyson worked the body early, used his head movement to make Halpin miss, and patiently closed the distance.

Then came the adjustment.

Tyson began switching stances, cutting off Halpin's escape routes, and forcing him toward the ropes. Once Halpin's movement disappeared, Tyson's power became even more dangerous.

That's the part many fans overlook:

The knockout wasn't created by one punch. Tyson spent rounds taking away Halpin's options until the finish became almost inevitable.

By the fourth round, a left hook-right hand combination sent Halpin down, and the referee stopped the fight at 1:04.
