@SpeeBree72139@Knightly_Hist Ah cool. I knew that was the case with sword terminology but didn't know it also extended to armour and helmets this late into their development. Thank you!
@quasivetra2263@JimboJones79785@Afrofrycook@KneeKappa@fade_colors@josephattard02 I would say that 40k is a satirical setting, but that doesn't neccecitate that every single line be satire. You can have sombre moments in a comedy and funny parts in a tragedy, with the setting still being overt. Comedy aside, irony can also qualify something as satire
@Afrofrycook@quasivetra2263@JimboJones79785@KneeKappa@fade_colors@josephattard02 Also, the emperor actively didn't want to be worshiped as a god as the best way to combat the chaos gods was to deny them sustenance through education and reason. The imperium worshiping him either means their god emperor was flat wrong, or the people worshiping him are.
@Afrofrycook@quasivetra2263@JimboJones79785@KneeKappa@fade_colors@josephattard02 Genuinely curious, how was it their open-mindedness that led to their downfall? The age of strife is primarily from men of iron and the elder creating a giant psychic fuck-storm in the warp. This isn't a perspective I've heard before so I'm curious.
@quasivetra2263@JimboJones79785@Afrofrycook@KneeKappa@fade_colors@josephattard02 The imperium is direct critique of religious zealotry through the irony of the emperor's actual beliefs. Also earlier 40k was overtly and frequently comedic. The Ork leader was named after Margret Thatcher, as well as the existence of Inquisitor Obiwan Sherlock Clousseau
@NotAklo If this compromise were met, I would have full and total respect for anyone siding with z-jump, even if I personally have different main values. Putting accessibility behind paywalls when there is no need to is just blatant pay to win. Doesn't solve Boxx, but it's something.
@NotAklo I am against Boxx and Z-Jump for integrity, balance, and monetary reasons. If a feature was added to make zjump an option free in UCF, it would remove the monetary concerns. If you are pro z jump for accessibility, you consistently must be for making it readily available.
@Malkasaur Last part is kinda my point. It changes how you play for faster, and easier button access. That is a change and not how any OEM works. I'm fine with you thinking that it's justified, but saying there isn't any meaningful difference is just silly. Cody even said this before
@Malkasaur Smash already uses macros by default. Grab is coded as a macro. In theory, one could argue that you are just remapping which inputs said button uses for its macro. Why couldn't you re-map it so that instead of shield and attack, it does down, and b?
@Malkasaur In 20 years, banning a bionic arm in classic boxing would not be abelism. I'd be much more ok with button remapping if it was a software addition rather than hardware as well. As it fundamentally keeps access behind more money. That could be seen as socioeconomic discrimination.
@Malkasaur And on the abelism, I would NEVER exclude someone from casual play or groups. Competition, particularly with money, should be carefully evaluated though, and it is not abelst to say so. The Boxx can reliably perform tech that humans just can't on OEM. That's not just leveling.
@Malkasaur Z-jump is not just more comfortable, but easier claw. It makes some tech easier.
As for the Boxx, I believe the lack of results is in part due to the top players having all learned on ocm. Relearning the game on completely new format is a lot of effort and risk, z-jump is not.
@Malkasaur Sorry for the multiple replies, character limit is garbage.
If a controller was somehow modified to make the C-stick do a wavedash, OEMs can wavedash and C-stick is already a macro, re-mapping would surely constitute a major change, even if it made the process more comfortable
@Malkasaur Most tournaments wouldn't restrict a player from taking prescribed medication for a diagnosed illness, but if that drug boosted gameplay, someone using it without a diagnosis would be an issue. People who need it are fine, but use for competitive edge is bad imo.
@Malkasaur The reason that UCF was added was so that people didn't have to spend loads of money on controllers to have a competitive advantage. Modded controllers that do something that no 1st party item can do pushes away from that, and also benefits some characters much more heavily.
