The framing of "Do teachers want more pension or more pay?" is completely backwards.
Teachers want to be rewarded fairly for the difficult job they do. They want fair pay, and they want to defer some of their earnings so they can live a dignified retirement (a fair pension).
What they don't want is CEOs on in excess of £250k a year, running trusts with reserves in excess of £50m giving them the choice between hardship now or hardship in retirement.
Let's call it for what it is: a flagrant attempt to undermine teachers' terms and conditions that will undermine the pension for the entire profession.
Ministers believe schools should remain open for 3 in 4 pupils during strikes, leaked docs show, as DfE prepares minimum service levels law
But the government stands accused of acting in 'bad faith' and deliberately 'collapsing' talks with unions

Our fight in Wokingham is not slowing down: 2 new picket lines across the district today. Well attended session for parents to come & talk to us about why we rejected the pay offer & still out on strike (we don’t want to be). We love being educators but #educationdeservesbetter
Another amazing @NEUnion picket at Maiden Erlegh School! In the words of Martin Luther King: “A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right… when he refuses to stand up for justice…when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true.” #PayUp#SaveOurSchools
Another great atmosphere at today’s picket. Proud to stand with so many of my colleagues, demonstrating our resilience and resolve to maintain the pressure to get the much needed funding for schools. #SaveOurSchools#PayUp
Pls share within your networks (parents what’s app groups are ideal) & social media. We want the opportunity to engage with as many parents & carers as possible about our strike action especially those ones that are a bit sceptical. Plus some fun activities for the children.

ASCL General Sec, @RealGeoffBarton on teachers' strikes: 'We went into those talks in good faith, they were bizarre and surreal in many times, but we did not play the union barons and we gave an absolute evidence based case.'

@Headteacher1971@CensoredHead Lots of Wokingham heads have included NEU material in letters and more recently counteracted the narrative about our pay rise being funded and the impact it will have on their school.
We refuse to back down until this government shows us that they value education and the educators within it. It’s is indefensible to fund 0.5% of next year’s pay rise and expect stretched schools to find the remaining. Then tell everyone that our pay rise is funded.
