I've long admired @eLife's commitment to early-career researchers. I got to add my voice to the conversation today with an #openaccess article I wrote about #science and #mentalhealth.
"If we value our scientists, our science will surely benefit."
See below for the article!
Early-career researchers feel discouraged from exposing vulnerability even during a global crisis, writes PhD student Jasper Elan Hunt (@NeuroJasper) https://t.co/3s3kqpBEYD
Just came back from the most fantastic meeting, SPONT22. Two days of spontaneous activity in the developing CNS, most inspiring! Thank you Guille Lopez Bendito @GLB_Lab and Christian Lohmann!

Exciting news 🌧️raincloud🌧️ fans! Raincloud plots 2.0 are here! Now with our most common feature request - a standalone R package! And STICKERS! https://t.co/TyxtW4GZ3l
Great discussion today @CortexClub on #Reproducibilty and #OpenScience with food for thought & practical advice about why this benefits the community but also oneself in the long run.
Sharing is also caring about your future self @robustgar @deevybee

Very happy to announce that our new neuroimaging meta-analysis on social cognition is now online in Psychological Bulletin @APA_Journals. Available as #openaccess article! https://t.co/L7l0NT343y
Absolute 🔥 from @yael_niv:
"Behavioral, rather than neuroscientific research, is essential for understanding the brain, contrary to the opinion of prominent funding bodies and scientific journals, who erroneously place neural data on a pedestal"

I'm very excited about the upcoming @CortexClub panel on reproducibility in neuroscience!
@deevybee, @russpoldrack, @robustgar and Verena Heise will discuss the challenges we face and offer practical advice on Tue, Nov 10, 2020. Find it on @worldwideneuro https://t.co/yBcTrHskhQ
@russpoldrack One thing that's been surprisingly helpful for me is a larger mousepad. I received one as a gift from a friend, and it's unexpectedly nice to have to pick up my mouse so much less frequently. 🙂
Congratulations to @Uwem63026860 in @karageopratt's lab for receiving the @UWArtsSciences Graduate Scholar Award! His proposal is entitled: "Development and function of a ventral vision pathway in #Xenopus tadpole".
I just set up my research bio on the @NDCNOxford website! I feel like a real researcher now. 😉

Soon: a bio on the @NeuroecologyLab website. 👀
Most of us grew up in #neuroscience with her illustrations of how the brain works, and our mental imagery relies on the worlds she drew. Her brain may have stopped working, but her illustrations live on. Rest in peace, Sarah Mack, Artist of Kandel & Schwartz's 'neuro bible'.
We're thrilled to announce the winner of the FENS-#EJN Image Competition! 🎉🥁
"Evolution of Cajal’s drawings" by S. Rodriguez-Rozada (DE) shows the large advances made in imaging methods over the past century: look for the image on the cover of @EJNeuroscience early next year!
I was reminded today of this wonderful editorial: https://t.co/8duqgPDQYd
"Descriptive" work isn't a bad thing, particularly if it's hypothesis-driven. Observing and describing phenomena *is* the basis of empricism, after all...
