Hands-on Expedition Medicine Workshop, with Dr. Melina Tatalias โ a Swiss helicopter rescue doctor โย OxArctic100 medics as co-instructors. The workshop is open to anyone interested in gaining essential skills for handling accidents in the wilderness.
Friends, I'd be grateful for a small donation to our Oxford Centennial Artic Expedition Project (even just 5$, ยฃ or โฌ). The success of our crowdfunding campaign is a key indicator for major sponsors if it is worth supporting our endeavours. Thank you!

I'm delighted to announce my selection for the 2026 Oxford Centennial Arctic Expedition to Svalbard!
It would be wonderful to see many of you at one of the launch events on the weekend of 22โ23 November (more details in the attached posters).
Our latest work shows that local modulation of cortical activity can bidirectionally change the amount of global sleep:

We welcome any feedback on this preprint!
There is still time to register to the Basic sleep research satellite workshop โ due to popular demand, we have now open an online registration for a live stream for those that cannot attend in person in Oslo :

Wonderful Satellite Meeting on Basic Sleep Research happening @UiO_LifeSci in Oslo this Friday co-organised by @ChaBoccara and @JuliaJadeHarris in collaboration with the @ESRS_Sleep
Registration still open!
๐๐ง ๐คJoin us on June 20th, 2025, in Oslo for a workshop that bridges System Neuroscience and Sleep Research in partnership with @ESRS_Sleep, @NCMBMnews, @UiO_LifeSci, @SWC_Neuro and @koebenhavns_uni!

Written with my wonderful colleagues @inesviolante@val_jaramillo and Michael Song.
Important work by @NatalieHauglund and the @NedergaardLab providing a mechanistic link between infraslow oscillations, blood and CSF dynamics, and clearance during NREM sleep.
Of particular note for clinicians is the impairment of these dynamics by zolpidem.
Out today in @CellCellPress !
We show that oscillations in norepinephrine and cerebral blood volume are the missing pieces that link NREM sleep to clearance of waste from the brain ๐ง ๐ค https://t.co/cvfmkxNzJt
Exciting work by the @anita_luthi lab!
In addition to the beautiful electrophysiology and imaging, the second part of the paper provides fascinating insights into the influence of the sleep environment on sleep physiology. Congratulations @alejandrosoriof and everyone involved!
Excited and honoured to serve as the Staines Medical Research Fellow @ExeterCollegeOx. Find out more about my work on the regulation and manipulation of sleep pressure:

So proud of the @mertonboatclub members, who just finished their impressive 24-hour 'ergathon' raising funds for @Homeless_Oxford to support their vital work throughout this winter.
A few more donations will help to meet reach funding target:
