Notes Against Note-Taking Systems
Because not all #NoteTaking is good by definition - question how much and what kind do you really need

I'm supporting @whichuk's #AffordableFoodForAll campaign. We want supermarkets to take further action on the availability of affordable products, clear pricing and more offers for those in need. Sign the petition if you agree. https://t.co/d3AgYx2Yyw via @whichuk
Twitter is an anti-compassion machine that stokes our tendency to dehumanize and even hate people we don't know personally.
Four little exercises I use to combat that and crank up the compassion in my mind:
@campbellclaret Frankly I was rooting for Sunak to at least be a good caretaker PM whilst we wait to elect Starmer. Sunak's politicks is just played as a technical exercise in manipulating public opinion, winning (not sure what), pursuit of power (superficial, job title sort - not changemakers).
@elonmusk Oh-oh. Here's hoping this is less-Liz-Truss-like than it sounds. Not so keen on the old Facebook move-fast-and-break-things approach either - they broke society, public discourse, elections... buckling up...
@Ninja_Starfish@JMPSimor Unbelievable. Amounts to outlawing a whole profession, and silencing anyone who disagrees. How is this happening here? We seem to be hurtling towards a Trumpian vision of "freedom" (read: impunity for those with money and power).
@RestIsPolitics@campbellclaret@RoryStewartUK Interesting new book out by Anand Giridharadas (The Persuaders), what do you think of his analysis that the left of politics need to re-learn how to evaluate threats and engage audiences emotionally (less calling out, more calling in... to join a movment)? (He'd be a great guest)
@RestIsPolitics@campbellclaret@RoryStewartUK People criticise Starmer's lack of charisma, but charisma is over-rated IMHO. I'd take a smart and accomplished person with genuine humility, compassion and interest in people any day. Is the real problem that the public value the wrong things in leaders? How to change that?
@campbellclaret@Jeremy_Hunt@George_Osborne I'm amazed George Osborne wants to show his face again around No. 10 - doesn't he feel any shame or regret?
I guess he'd have to learn to acknowledge mistakes, reflect on lessons learned and acquire some empathy with poor folk first.
Answered my own question...
@Peston@OliverDowden@bbclaurak It's said that writers of dialogue in novels and movies have to imagine three aspects of a character's mind: the said, the unsaid and the unsayable. No imagination necessary in the case of @GavinWilliamson - there's no filter. His texts look either unhinged, or adolescent...
