.@AaronDFordNV didn’t just vote right on #railLabor in the #nvleg.. as AG, he joined the fight in the 9th Circuit to defend Nevada’s ability to enforce two-person crew laws when the FRA tried to wipe out state protections. Rail labor stood that line with him & won. @JosephMLombardo vetoed #AB456, a #railsafety bill.. then cited “litigation risk” as cover. The carriers made that argument, & he used it. Ford went to court in that fight. Nevada’s railroaders know the difference between a veto & a court filing. One avoids the fight. One takes it. 💪 @BLET #NVGov

This gang of lobbyists & free market cheerleaders wants Congress to bury real #railsafety where no one ever has to vote on it.. not because prices would rise, but because Wall Street demands the #PSR model stay untouched. Fighting basic safety standards to protect margins is why workers die, communities get destroyed, & corporations dodge responsibility. Rail isn’t an abstract economic theory.. It’s real people, real towns, real freight. If affordability means preserving short term profits by externalizing risk, then Congress should be ashamed, not obedient.

I’m not speaking for the folks doing the inspections, but I’ll say this.. when their work gets cut, mine becomes the next headline. The railroads aren’t pushing tech to make us safer. They’re pushing it to gut inspections, delay repairs, and get away with doing less for more. Call it innovation all you want, but replacing a trained eye with a machine isn’t safety. It’s a business model built on risk. Technology should back the people who keep this industry upright, not replace them with software and hope. If the carriers want credibility on safety, they can start by telling the truth. This isn’t progress. It’s a cost-cutting campaign hiding behind a screen. @Teamsters @BMWEDIBT
