The case that shocked Rio de Janeiro in March had a happy ending today. The brutally attacked capybara was released by the Environmental Patrol team of the Environment and Climate Secretary into its new home: an environmental reserve in the West Zone.

🩺 The journey: The rescue began with immediate first aid on the Island. Next came the internship at Estacio University's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, where he received the intensive care of veterinarian Jeferson Pires.

🌿 The new home: The reservation was chosen strategically, as the animal lost sight in its left eye. By having limited access to people and low risk of collisions, it ensures the tranquility she needs to live away from stress.

Wildlife deserves respect and protection! 🌳

I’m sorry, but this is the kind of knee-jerk reaction that casts doubt over the carefully constructed NPP brand.

Not only is it wrong to direct the police this way, it’s politically misinformed. There’s so much more the energy of state should be directed towards at this time

Govt has directed Police to take action under emergency regulations against individuals circulating defamatory or fake claims targeting the President and the government during the disaster situation.

This comes despite the President reiterating that emergency powers are meant only for disaster response and not for other concerns.
