O.M.M.V is a space where people who have experience of mental health issues can come together and share their stories and ideas, particularly psychosis
I'm not a fan of medication and am just beginning to look at the bigger picture https://t.co/6B6yRvVvfN
I will continue looking into big pharmaceutical companies - maybe there's more to them than meets the eye
#BigPharma#psychosis#misleading
@darksith7 I have done a little research and found this - you are correct https://t.co/6B6yRvVvfN
'In addition, the company recruited doctors to serve as authors of articles that were ghostwritten by medical literature companies and about studies the doctors in question did not conduct'
@darksith7 I will have to do more research! Are you saying you are against using medication to treat psychosis? For me, the combination of medication and CBT therapy, as well as a supportive environment has really helped
@darksith7 Yeah they can give you those side effects but I think it's pretty rare? From my point of view, my team have provided me with all the information I need to make an informed decision about my meds and other treatments
@darksith7 It is true that people with schizophrenia have shorter live expediencies but I haven't read enough scientific studies to be able to comment on what role anti-psychotics have in that. Suicide will shorten your life far more than any anti-psychotic, so i'll take the drugs thanks
Let's talk to each other with empathy and compassion. Research shows that the best way to challenge mental health stereotypes is through firsthand contact with people with experience of mental health problems. #stigma#TimeToChange
@NickyHay4Blog This could be something I am interested in actually. I attend a support group called @BRISTOLHVN - I will have a talk with the other members and see if we can arrange something! This might sound like a silly question, but what sort of thing are you looking for?
Major study finds anti-depressants ARE effective. Here's the study hitting the news lately - https://t.co/KHLAxrL7sg
Do you think they are more effective than other therapies though? Do we perscribe them to readily?

@STEPsompar Hi, I am under the care of the South Glos EI team and have created a website + facebook page aiming to raise awareness of psychosis. Maybe it could be of interest to you and we can be in touch? https://t.co/EekFWcmbC4 https://t.co/oS9kTb7UlS
@IFGroupBristol I have made a website looking to raise awareness of psychosis by sharing my lived experience - maybe we could talk/collaborate on something? https://t.co/EekFWcmbC4
#psychosis#LivedExperience#support
@RealityCheckNHS Just launched my website keeping a personal account of my experience with psychosis. Early days still but perhaps we could collaborate on something? https://t.co/EekFWcmbC4
'Those with severe mental illnesses (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, psychosis) are actually 2.5 times more likely to be victims of a violent crime than the general population' https://t.co/QSyn8G4gYh
Every story that suggests a causal link between #mentalillness and violence further increases the stigma of having a mental illness, making it less likely that those experiencing a mental illness will seek help. https://t.co/iOsmV1GASG #EndStigma#Depression
There's some really interesting and important research going on using psychedelic drugs to treat mental illnesss - well worth a read! https://t.co/3RxwTSqhbw
