@morganwarstler The fact that it doesn’t even occur to you that people who are here legally, but who are not tourists or LPRs, give birth here too tells me everything I need to know about your knowledge on this topic.
@lewit_alan@washingtonpost You realize we let millions of foreign tourists rent cars and drive on our roads with their foreign licenses and no English test? Also, US citizens can do the same in most countries when visiting, and our US driving test is pretty much the easiest in the world
@DKlaus33@MelanieSushi22@washingtonpost We let every tourist rent a car. And every American can rent cars abroad, despite our driving tests being the least stringent in pretty much the entire world. We are the most untrained drivers.
@maphumanintent You’re assuming the jobs were there for citizens to begin with. Many companies hire foreign talent for their experience in foreign markets, and that’s not something citizens can typically offer.
@BravoDaveTX@nytimes It actually had a perimeter wall separating it from the compound, a painted sports field and blue and pink walls. You’d know this if you’d a really looked at the aerial views and read the article.
@SA66593046W@FT The US is one of the few counties that taxes citizens on their worldwide income regardless where they reside. Damn right does the government have a responsibility to assist its citizens since it has no issues taxing them while they’re living abroad.
@KittyOnX_@TVietor08 That’s now what DOS announced. They said they have returned home, not that they evacuated a single one of them. And that number seems pretty hard to believe considering the airspace has been closed to commercial flights since last week. I call BS.
