Lovely cheerful willow #catkins making an appearance in the newly planted woodland @NewDaleWood on a chilly March day. Big attraction with the butterflies and bees this week. 🐝@NaturesCalendar @WoodlandTrust @communityforest

No shortage of skilled tree planters today! Our #climatechange superheroes find their #treeplanting power stances. Our mission is 400 #nativetrees this weekend, turning bare land into a #wildlifehaven. Unlimited thanks to @WoodlandTrust for funding the #northernforest project

#treeplanting volunteers testing the waterlogged site #afterthestorm ! We’re all set to plant our first 600 trees in the @NewDaleWood as part of the The Northern Forest project. Many thanks to @WoodlandTrust for the safe delivery of our lovely saplings.

85% of the site is flooded so work begins with heeling the young saplings in to a temporary home while the ground dries out.

Volunteers check the tree guards are firmly tied in place as strong winds continue to batter the site.

Volunteers wrap up warm on the first day of planting, with a few hours of sunshine between storms.
