In a civilization like India which invented cold pressed seed oils and ghee thousands of years ago, and ate them for thousands of years without issues, a foreign company called Dada marketed hydrogenated vegetable fat as a "healthy alternative" to Ghee as early as 1930s and won people's minds with "Dalda."

The power of mental programming by clever marketing is real and dangerous. Indians are going through it right now at an unprecedented rate via social media. Indians are made to hate their own country and look up to superficial others.

Just like hydrogenated vegetable fat with transfats was proven to be dangerous to health decades later, and Indians are turning back to cold pressed oils and ghee, one day everyone will realize they made a mistake hating their own country for some others shown as great now.

But that day may be too late.

आज लोकसभा में बहुत अजीब दृश्य दिखा।

नारी शक्ति वंदन अधिनियम के लिए जरूरी संविधान संशोधन बिल को कांग्रेस, TMC, DMK और समाजवादी पार्टी ने पारित नहीं होने दिया। महिलाओं को 33% आरक्षण देने के बिल को गिरा देना, उसका उत्साह मनाना और जयनाद करना सचमुच निंदनीय और कल्पना से परे है।

अब देश की महिलाओं को लोकसभा और विधानसभा में 33% आरक्षण, जो उनका अधिकार था, वह नहीं मिल पाएगा। कांग्रेस और उसके सहयोगियों ने यह पहली बार नहीं किया, बल्कि बार-बार किया है। उनकी यह सोच न महिलाओं के हित में है और न देश के।

मैं उन्हें बताना चाहता हूँ कि नारी शक्ति के अपमान की यह बात यहाँ नहीं रुकेगी, दूर तक जाएगी। विपक्ष को ‘महिलाओं का आक्रोश’ न सिर्फ 2029 लोकसभा चुनाव में, बल्कि हर स्तर, हर चुनाव और हर स्थान पर झेलना पड़ेगा।

I come from an OBC background as per law, but I have never used reservation. Because I believe education should reward ability, not identity. I do not believe in caste-based reservation, and I have always seen myself as part of the general category.

The UGC controversy shows how dangerous it is when education becomes a political tool. Policies are framed in the name of equity, but their impact is deeper division, fear, and distrust among students.

Instead of building world-class universities, we are deepening caste lines on campuses. Social justice matters, but when policies begin to label entire categories as suspects, merit becomes the first casualty.

What A. R. Rahman said about Chhaava reveals more about India’s cultural politics than about the film itself.

Rahman’s core claim isn’t that he’s banned or boycotted. It’s subtler: Bollywood’s power structure has changed, creativity has taken a backseat, and Chhaava felt “divisive” because it “cashed in on tensions” even while honouring bravery.

Here’s the problem.

Chhaava isn’t built on invention or provocation. Sambhaji vs Aurangzeb is not a contemporary political construct. It appears in Maratha bakhars, Persian court chronicles like the Maasir-i-Alamgiri, and later colonial historiography. This conflict was recorded by both sides of history. It predates modern India, electoral politics, and today’s culture wars.

Labeling such history “divisive” is not a neutral judgment it’s a political framing. It implies that remembering resistance is less legitimate than remembering devotion; that naming conquest is more dangerous than romanticising harmony.

Notice the asymmetry:
Indian history is welcomed when it is abstract, symbolic, or safely spiritual.
It becomes “problematic” only when it names power, violence, and Hindu resistance.

This reflex didn’t emerge organically. It was shaped post Independence by elite cultural gatekeeping that treated civilisational memory as combustible and silence as virtue. The result? Generations trained to believe that historical clarity equals communal trouble.

So when a film refuses to soften Sambhaji into metaphor or Aurangzeb into abstraction, the alarm goes off: divisive, polarising, dangerous.

That discomfort isn’t about religion.
It’s about memory …. unsanitised, unashamed memory.

A society that cannot distinguish between hatred and historical recall will keep mistaking truth for tension and forgetting for peace.

The Glory of the Indian Judicial System

- 1968: Sopan Gaikwad aged 55, buys a land with a registered deed. Later, he came to know that the land was already mortgaged to a bank.
- 1969: Bank sends him a notice for loan default by the original owner. Sopan goes to court.
- 1982: After 14 years, trial court gives judgment in Sopan’s favour. He is 69. Original owner challenges the decision.
- 1987: High Court cancels the judgment. Sopan is 74.
- 1988: Sopan files appeal in High Court. He is 75.
- 2015: After 27 years of pending appeal, High Court dismisses his case. Sopan is 102. He files another appeal.
- 2019: High Court dismisses second appeal for delay and lawyer’s non appearance. Sopan did not know his lawyer was absent. He is 106.
- 2021: Sopan approaches Supreme Court. He is 108.
- 12 July 2021: Supreme Court agrees to hear the case. On the same day, lawyer informs that Sopan has died.

Sopan bought land at 55. He fought for ownership for 53 years and died at 108.

Finally watched #Dhurandhar last night! And I am blown away! Its hard to fathom that an Indian moviemaker has come up with this! Having grown up watching hollywood spy movies, this was absolutely kickass matching that adrenaline rush! The maker has not tried to imitate any existing benchmarks for the genre and instead has shot it true to its nativity and the real world. Its raw, gripping and breathtakingly sewn together. The casting is *perfect* and the movie keeps you hooked onto the screen! The scenes from 26/11 makes your stomach churn, you understand how the whole pakistani terror setup operates, you realise why demonetisation was necessary and silently pray for the well being of the *unknown men* who risk everything to take out our enemies quietly and keep our country safe.

I was in the Taj Hotel on the night of 26/11 with my husband @Ajay_Bagga . We were fortunate to survive the heinous terrorist attack that night and were rescued alive after 14 hours .

The most bone-chilling scene in #Dhurandhar for me was the red screen where the actual voice recordings of the 26/11 terrorists and their handlers were played. To hear what the handlers were instructing the terrorists to do , how brutal, inhuman and disgusting it was - just sent shivers through my body. To see the scene recreated from the other side- the handlers celebrating at every bomb going off & every person killed - if that doesn’t fill us with rage and renewed commitment to national security, what else will?

17 years have passed but the memory of what happened and what could have happened to us just shook me to the core . Gut wrenching and painful

Huge credit to Dhurandhar and its makers @AdityaDharFilms for ensuring that an entire new generation understands what truly happened on 26/11 in just those 2–3 minutes.

That look of @RanveerOfficial will haunt an entire generation.

Dear Aditya , thank you for bringing alive the dark challenges that our nation has gone through and steadfastly overcome . As you said , we need to remember , create awareness , stand united and I would add , call out those who unleashed such barbaric atrocities on innocents . You have brought to light very pertinent issues . As we lay in the dark for hours on end , with the Taj on fire , the terrorists in the kitchen of the Chambers firing into helpless civilians, we saw the end result of this hatred bred by state actors . One politician was giving interviews to the media , the handlers heard him and sent the chilling instructions , “ Chambers mein Hindustan ka wazir hai , wahan jao”. They came for all of us ,who were lying down in the Chambers, post that. So many people were shot and killed in front of us . As a Nation we should never forget and you have done a great National service by bringing alive those dark times and exposing the perpetrators of that heartless, mindless butchery of human beings .
