@Headteacherchat I think I’m one of the lucky ones as I’ve never found the job lonely. My advice is to network and reach out to other heads in your LA. Joining @NewHTNetwork will help too as we are a group of heads who all started at similar times. Surround yourself with people doing the job.
My friend Julia Waters convened a meeting with Sir Martyn Oliver and a group of heads who suffered near catastrophic effects to their mental health after Ofsted inspections. In truth, we have no idea how many more heads there are who are silenced by NDAs. https://t.co/iW7gZVQYub

Is anyone else struggling with anxiety due to dealing with unreasonable, confrontational, or aggressive parents?I am, and it's heartbreaking because I truly love my job. While we have policies in place to handle these situations, the constant exhaustion is overwhelming

Has anyone in this group taken on their first headship while also managing a young family? I'm specifically asking about dealing with babies, toddlers, or young children in primary school. How has the experience been for you?

They have such demanding roles.
Let's make sure to look after them!

The government wants to cut 'unproductive tasks' from teacher workload.
What happens if you ask 9,000 teachers to give examples of the unproductive tasks they spend most time on?

Can anyone help Anon?
Hi I was hoping for some advice from the headteachers who follow you.
I would like to know what things being a deputy doesn’t prepare you for as a head- what else should I be gaining experience of, no matter how small, to really prepare me for headship?
