West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari directed Durga Puja committees not to permit CPI(M) book stalls outside pandals if the party refers to the festival as 'Sharodotsav' instead of 'Durga Puja', saying the term minimises its religious character.

Speaking in the state assembly, Adhikari accused sections of the Left of selectively targeting 'Sanatan Dharma' and the saffron colour, and urged puja committees to prevent such book stalls from operating.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of collective efforts, saying that the promise of space is infinite and responsibility is collective. In a virtual address to the International Space Summit organised in Paris, Prime Minister Modi outlined India’s position on the space sector.

The University of Delhi is set to more than double its hostel capacity, with the total number of seats across the university and its colleges expected to rise to 12,754.

A black Thar seen moving along the Bichitrapur casuarina forest road, hours before five abandoned baby orangutans were found in the protected area, has emerged a big lead in the investigation into how the critically endangered, non-native species reached the coastal jungle in Balasore district.

The orangutans, which were transported to Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar, have been kept in quarantine. Gender identification showed that three of the infants are male and two are female, officials said.
