Remember to be mindful of how your celebrations affect the world around you.
Cleaning up after yourself, opting for reusable cutlery, and skipping the balloons in favor of environmentally-friendly decorations can all help.

Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) are discharges of raw sewage from sanitary sewers. This discharge can release untreated sewage into basements or from manholes that can end up on city streets, playgrounds, or into streams.
For info on preventing them, see https://t.co/GGhNiBghj9.
#FathersDay is this weekend! How can you celebrate? How about a day at the ocean followed by a BBQ where you can give Dad what he really wants-- a better world for your family? Do this by protecting our ocean & keeping your partying green-- use reusable cutlery, plates, & dรฉcor!
#Seagrasses are a vital part of coastal marine ecosystems. They provide food to marine life and help deter erosion.
Unfortunately, species of seagrass in NY are declining. The @NYSDEC is working to monitor and protect NY's seagrasses.

What goes up, must come down. Every released balloon becomes litter & can have a negative impact on wildlife, the environment, & even cause power outages! If you're looking for a way to celebrate, remember, or honor people you love, visit https://t.co/8udD6Am0co for some ideas.
Happy #WorldOceansDay!!๐๐

NY is home to several species of marine mammals including seals, whales, dolphins, & porpoises. They can be tempting to experience up close, but it's important to keep your distance; for both their safety & yours. Learn more about NY's marine mammals at https://t.co/Y1VbijrX0N
What is a #gyre? How does #sand form? What are #microplastics? How do #seaturtles hatch?

#Nutrients are an important part of different bodies of water, but an excess of nutrients can be a problem. Excess nutrients leads to the growth of algae and weeds, which causes poor water clarity and dissolved oxygen levels. For more info on this, visit https://t.co/Z3tYCqPOIz.
How to Enjoy the #Ocean:
1: Put on sunglasses & sunscreen to protect you from the sun.
2: Go to the ocean.
3: Have fun playing in & around the water.
4: Take all of your things with you when you leave to protect the ocean from us humans.
5: Reminisce.
6: Repeat.
