Book of the Day - Home: my life in the universe. Newent School is delighted to host @MarkBallabon today. He is currently talking to Year 8 students about his book which deals with environmental issues and finding out who you are. I'm sure he is giving them lots to think about.
We had the pleasure of welcoming author @MarkBallabon to Newent today to discuss his book #Home.
It was a brilliant opportunity for our year 8 students and some fantastic links to #antibullyingweek2022. Thanks to @newentlibrarian for organising.
This is just a small selection of the fantastic Ovid in the West Country entries we have received this term. Our three school winners will be announced shortly in preparation for the regional final next month! @classicsforall
Book of the Day - The House of Clouds. A short story about Tabby who is unhappy about her Grandad coming to stay and even more about having to walk his dog. When she spots something strange going on at a local house her Grandad tells her a story about it. Can it be true?
It’s #RoaldDahlDay! Many of our students love his work. What’s your favourite? The gruesome Twits are unforgettable but our favourite for year 7 is the brilliant ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’.
Book of the Day - Mind the Gap. Mikey is completely devastated by his dad's death. His best friend tries to help, but Mikey is unreachable and the tragedy engulfs him too. He sets out to search London for a reminder of the dead man. A chance encounter at a Tube station may help.
Important advice here from Alex Quigley. We’ve been striving to explicitly use these suggested strategies for the past few years. Frayer models and other pre-teaching methods are a common sight in our lessons.
