Q: Would you consider mentoring a student/newly qualified dietitian with a protected characteristic (PD) ?
There is something deeply poignant about the preventable death of a fellow dietitian who lost her life at her place of work because the #Cerner IT system lacked the simple functionality to identify and alert ED staff to patient risk. https://t.co/zDijyNKWi3 🕊️#RIPEmily
And people wonder why there is a call to action to diversify dietetics?!
And if you want to see the quantitative data, here is a paper we published highlighting how underrepresented marginalized groups are in the field of nutrition & dietetics: https://t.co/iyOVtZmmic
@CarolineBoveyRD@NusratkRD@BDA_Dietitians@BDA_TradeUnion It's hard to speak up as a student. I was bullied (in retrospect it was racism) at placement and uni told me they won't get involved as they don't want to upset the placement provider who may take away the placement place in the future.
Heya #AHPcommunity we are still looking for #AHPstudents from across the 15 professions who would like to be a part of our student stakeholder group for this project - please retweet / tag!

"If we don’t have people with lived experience in positions of power, we’ll do the same as we’ve always done, in a system soaked in bias."

BAME staff in senior positions are not “given jobs”. We work hard, often harder than others to gain experiences, competence and qualifications! Our jobs are well deserved. Soooo annoying when this is questioned…. #FedUp of having to justify and educate. #WeDeserveOurRoles
Throwback to this podcast hosted by @Newtrition_P where @Veggie_Nut and myself talk about diversity in Dietetics, the cultural and religious significance of food in Sikhism and points to consider for AHPs. Always a pleasure reflecting on experiences with @BritishSikhDocs
On International Day of People with Disability we want to highlight the work BDA members Soeng Ha Liu & Rasleen Kahai are doing to support dietitians in minority groups, including those with disabilities, through their Facebook group. Join here: https://t.co/DJNK0CyAvu #IDPWD2021
Really enjoying listening to the @Newtrition_P podcast! Interesting to listen to the different perspectives of individuals on diversity, ranging from student dietitians to psychiatrists! Definitely some great words of wisdom of how we can all do better 🙌🏾
New podcast episode 🙌 we welcome #dietetic#manager Bal Sembi. She's been broken along her dietetic journey, from an #rd2b to a lead placement provider and now also a manager. She shares alls.
