@obsessafilma@AllenKenn@Channel4News@mattfrei So sick of people saying stuff like that. It’s like going up to someone collecting for a cancer charity and saying “But what about heart disease?! What about Alzheimer’s?! Don’t you care about those?”
@JamesKitts12 @samiamsamh @b_nishanov@davetroy I literally saw someone this week complaining because people in Russia were no longer able to pay for their Netflix and Spotify subscriptions by credit card.
I mean, I know it’s not the Russian peoples’ fault, but damn - a bit of perspective!
Another thing that’s getting on my tits: whenever a punishment is imposed by a private co. (Apple won’t sell products there, they’re banned from sporting events, WB won’t show Batman there), someone says “That’ll show ‘em”.
What do you expect WB to do? Send in the Animaniacs??
So the vibe seems to be:
-Don’t even talk about supporting 🇺🇦militarily, it’ll get us all nuked
-Don’t sanction Russia bc then they can’t use Apple Pay
-Don’t stan Zelenskyy
-Don’t talk about 🇺🇦 if you don’t have a long, rich history of condemning every war on Twitter
F all that!
@AllezLesBoulez Ah yes. The core ethics of stanning Zelenskyy. I was wondering when we were going to get a proper critique among all this fighting and detestation.
@wwaldus@DoogiesOlderDad@lettuceSeducer@Klitschko As you know, what he’s saying is that “both-sides-ing” this issue is incredibly dumb and does Putin a massive favour (for all the reasons he just laid out).
@goodguytristan@SayThatAgane @xdarkxsteel @JoshuaPotash Uh huh. Absolutely. It’s maybe losing access to Spotify and Netflix.
It’s like that old saying: the first casualty of war is 21st century convenience.
Get back to me when innocent Russians are suffering on a level even vaguely comparable to innocent Ukrainians.
@dkaleniuk@BorisJohnson I feel like they’re hoping the argument over which oligarchs to sanction goes on so long that the war ends without having to have the hard conversation: should we support Ukraine in a defensive capacity, especially considering that Russia has Belasrusian support in their attack?
@dkaleniuk@BorisJohnson I don’t get why it would result in WW3. We’d be defending another country, not attacking Russia.
People act like Putin’s hand is being forced all the time. It’s not - he can deescalate any time he wants! He’s not backed into a corner. He can just go home.
@1004alltime@The_key_master@eddythecowboy@dkaleniuk@BorisJohnson Add to that the fact that Russia is being reinforced by another country, so why can’t Ukraine?
Also is Putin an animal/toddler? Is he not responsible for his own actions? Why is it on us to be overly reasonable to appease that loon?
“He’s not attacking ME” doesn’t work out well
@1004alltime@The_key_master@eddythecowboy@dkaleniuk@BorisJohnson Absolutely. People aren’t willing to stop him, ostensibly bc he has nukes/potential escalation. If we were being attacked, we would be crying out for help too. Letting him do this means he’ll do it again and we’ll be having this convo again sooner or later.
@The_key_master@dkaleniuk@BorisJohnson It’s an act of defence. No one is talking about invading Russia itself.
Using nukes in response makes no sense and I don’t think Putin is suicidal.
@JoshuaPotash Here’s where we are with this thread:
It’s a tragedy Russians can’t use their cards, sanctions only target WC & the west is unilaterally escalating against Russia.
None of that is true
I notice you’re also against the popular support for 🇺🇦/Zolenskyy
Edgelord nonsense, at best
