PRESS STATEMENT BY SENATOR OKIYA OMTATAH ON THE PUBLIC DEBT CASE RULING

Fellow Kenyans,

Today, the High Court delivered an important ruling in our public debt case.

The Court upheld the @IMFNews claim of diplomatic immunity and struck it out of this petition. While we respect the Court’s decision, accountability for Kenya’s debt burden cannot end there.
We are preparing a separate legal challenge to the Bretton Woods Agreements Act, 1963, against the Constitution of Kenya 2010 to ensure all actors involved in Kenya’s debt processes are subjected to proper scrutiny.

Most importantly, the Court rejected attempts by the Attorney General and other respondents to have this case dismissed. The judges ruled that our petition will proceed to a full hearing on its merits.

The Court also dismissed applications by the former Auditor General, former Controller of Budget, the current Auditor General, and the current Controller of Budget seeking to shield themselves from these proceedings.

This is a significant victory for transparency, accountability, and the Kenyan people.

We will amend our petition as directed by the Court and return on 22nd July 2026. Our mission remains unchanged: to establish how Kenya accumulated trillions in public debt, how the funds were utilized , whether the public benefited and whether the law was followed at every stage.

This case is about protecting the future of our nation and the interests of every Kenyan taxpayer.
We remain focused, determined, and committed to seeing it through.

Here are seven ways to love your spouse biblically.

1. ❤️Love Them Sacrificially

Ephesians 5:25 (NKJV)

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.”

Biblical love asks, “How can I serve?” before it asks, “What can I get?”

Real love sacrifices comfort, pride, convenience, and selfishness for the good of the other person.

Love grows where selflessness grows.

2. ❤️Speak Life Over Them

Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

Your spouse should not have to recover from your words.

Encourage them.

Affirm them.

Pray for them.

Speak with kindness even when you are frustrated.

Words have the power to strengthen a marriage or slowly destroy it.

3. ❤️Extend Grace

Colossians 3:13 (NKJV)

“Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another…”

Your spouse is human.

They will make mistakes.

They will have weaknesses.

They will sometimes disappoint you.

A healthy marriage is not built by two perfect people. It is built by two imperfect people who continually choose grace, forgiveness, and understanding.

4. ❤️Choose Faithfulness in Heart and Mind

“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled.”

Faithfulness is more than avoiding adultery.

It is protecting your heart, your thoughts, your attention, and your affections.

A biblical marriage thrives when both spouses continually choose one another.

5. ❤️Seek to Understand Before Being Understood

“Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”

Many marriage conflicts are not caused by a lack of love but by a lack of understanding.

Listen carefully.

Ask questions.

Learn your spouse’s fears, dreams, struggles, and needs.

People feel loved when they feel understood.

6. ❤️Pray for Them Consistently

“And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed…”

One of the most powerful ways to love your spouse is to take them before God regularly.

Pray for their spiritual growth.

Pray for their health.

Pray for their purpose.

It is difficult to consistently pray for someone and remain indifferent toward them.

“A threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

The strongest marriages are not those where two people cling tightly to each other.

They are marriages where both people cling tightly to Christ.

When Jesus is at the center, love becomes deeper than feelings, forgiveness becomes possible, and commitment becomes stronger than circumstances.

The government hired dar to draw the JKIA masterplan. Good choice. For over a decade dar has been ranked the world's top airport design firm. They master planned Al Maktoum in Dubai, set to be the largest airport on earth. They worked on Hamad in Doha, named the world's best airport of 2024. They have planned or built 300 airports across six continents. When Kenya needed a plan, we reached for the very best in the world, and we were right to.

So now that the government has chosen the best to design it, we hope they will follow through and, in the same spirit of excellence, choose the best in the industry to build it. Kenyans are ready to throw their full weight behind this project. We are all tired of the old, leaking airport that has long outlived its usefulness.

Having seen the concept designs, I am quite excited. They are stunning and way better than any previous ones. The new terminal takes its cue from the savannah and the great migration, with a canopy that filters daylight the way the sun falls through the plains, a gateway that feels unmistakably Kenyan and world-class at the same time. This is the standard we should all be proud of. Now let us match it with a build, and a process, worthy of the drawings.
